Server Version#: 1.22.1.4228
Player Version#: 1.30.1.2115-81e1fc3f
I have PMS running in docker on my local network, and I have the Plex app running on my window 10 PC, with ‘advertise as player’ enabled. No matter what I try I cannot see it as an available player on any device on my network.
Here’s the kicker, I installed the latest Plex HTPC app Introducing Plex HTPC! on the same windows computer and THAT shows up as an available player on all my devices!
Additionally browsing to http://[server IP]:32400/clients results in a 401 Unauthorized
you have PMS v. 1.22.1.4228 running in a docker container inside your home network
CORRECT
you have a PC in the same network that’s running various Plex clients
Plex for Windows 1.30.1.2115 → not visible as player
Plex HTPC 1.0 or 1.1 → visible as player
CORRECT
browser running Plex Web → browser error message when attempting to run the bundled version of Plex Web
Not quite, the browser running Plex Web works just fine. The issue is that I cannot see the Windows 10 player as a Remote Player or ‘fling content’ to it from any client instance of Plex.
Hope that makes it a little more clear, everything is working swimmingly except seeing my player to ‘fling’ content to it. Thanks!
I’ve had this issue for years, the old beta client used to work, but never got the current stable or Plex Pass version to work on any PC on the same network, same subnet, no NAT filtering and now it seems they’ve removed the beta client post entirely from the forums.
If the client is a Windows machine, have you checked the status of the network connection? It must be classified as “private”, not as “public”.
Otherwise the ports are closed which make Plex companion work.
(Other client types on the other hand can be working nonetheless because they can use a Plex server in the same network as a “companion relay”.)
I do also recommend to disable “energy saving” of the network adapter on any Windows machine which is either used as a server or as a Plex client.
I now verified the settings, it shows up now, however, flinging an item from the phone starts the item, PC client starts as paused, it plays the audio, but shows the orange play icon over the video, image frozen, unpausing/pausing does nothing. Starting the item from the client itself works fine.
This both used to work in the old Plex client (and still works fine with the old beta client)
Edit: Also tested on another wired Windows 10 PC (same subnet) with the same settings as mentioned above and it still doesn’t show up as a player (Version 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4)
