Adverts playing before tv show

Hi,
has anyone else experienced Plex media player playing adverts before a tv show? it only happened today twice so far and not everytime i play something. it hasnt happened on the web player yet but i have not used that much today. i know that it is not adverts that are in the video file because it plays a separate 2 minute long file that is called the same title as the show I’m trying to watch. it shows up in plex dashboard as the same title and also in tautulli, just wondering if this is a bug or a “feature” if so can it be turned off?

Are you certain they’re adverts (Plex doesn’t do that - yet)?
It’s more likely you’re watching trailers and Plex Pass automatic trailers could be darn near anything (may look, smell, walk, and taste like an advert):

The ‘Server’ settings are shown above and each client should also have a control setting - highlight ‘Advanced’ and don’t forget to ‘Save’.

its definitely adverts, starts with walmart, then chromebook, facebook watch, then sprint, back to walmart, amd finally kohls.

Is the tv show stored on your own Plex server or are you using someone else’s?
Is this episode recorded off air?

i think i have got to the bottom of it, the episode that i was trying to watch has been replaced with this video file containing just adverts, i had already watched episode, was just looking to recap, so i dont know how its happened, but thank you for replying

One of your ‘friends’? Time to re-evaluate your ‘friends’ I think.
