I had different collections and stuff, about 2500 songs on 2 different servers. This worked fine, but when I added (so far) 6.500 ripped songs from my CD-collection things started to act weird.
First, when playing the collections the image on the screen stops, but sometimes jumps to the song being played, but mostly it just stops (which will burn my TV after a while).
Second, I noticed strange thing in my Studio Albums folder. Billy Joel turns up twice under artists, and Brice Springsteen and Boz Scaggs gets merged.
If I click the 3 vertical dots Match is available on all artists, as if it hasn’t found any match, but that might be because I use Agent: Personal Media Artists.
Am I doing something wrong, or has Plex reached some sort of limit?
When using the Personal Media Artists agent (or any agent, other than “Plex Music”), Plex depends heavily on the folder/filename structure of your files to identify them and match them to MusicBrainz. This is true even if your embedded tags are very accurate and your library is set to “Prefer local metadata,” as yours is. Plex’s requirements for file organization are here:
If your tags are very accurate, the “Plex Music” agent is much less dependent on the folder/filename structure than the other agents.
On a side note, I see you have “Store track progress” enabled in your library. This setting is helpful for audiobooks, or really long music tracks (like a complete album in a single file), but not so much for typical music libraries.
I use MusicBranz Picard to manage the tags, art, and what not. In some cases, as with John Lennon, or Billy Joel for that matter, I change the tags so they aren’t divided up. This worked fine until one of the Billy Joel albums (I’ve rechecked it several times). What happened with Bruce and Boz I have no idea, they showed up correctly at start, then Plex started some checking on it’s own, and they got merged. I have no idea how to split them up again.
