After resurrecting Plex from W10 crash to Ubuntu 24.04.1 how to reconnect with friends and family?

Server Version#:
Player Version#: v 4.141.0
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

Plex pass holder for about 6 years and loving it!
Recently had to move on to Linux system so not too sure about server and player Versions.

My Windows 10 machine recently died. I moved on to Ubuntu 24.04.1 running Plex. I have everything set up and running here locally and have set up UFW settings to allow Plex through but I dont know how to reestablish communication with family and freinds.
The Plex Gui had all of my friends and family still listed in Manage Library Access but the curious thing is the allowed access to libraries included 13 libraries and I dont have 13 libraries. So Im not sure how best to proceed.

Any help would be appreciated

I am looking at your Plex.tv account and see 9 libraries with 12 family/friends.

Most common cause for incorrect counts showing is browser cache.

Completely refresh the browser (Control + F5)

You did have a very old server (many years not active).
I removed that long-dead server.

Thank you for the swift reply.
This is a work in progress to be sure. I changed the name of the server to rocks…maybe thats whats confusing my new integration. Currently on my new Linux machine I have a Movie, TV, Music and Home Videos library. I currently have 15 friends.
Im not sure what the long-dead server is about as I was using a W10 server for the last several years. I might be muddting the waters with my server name as I have changed it in the past to keep track of catastrophic recoveries and iterations, if that makes sense.

Let me Control + F5

Thank you, I rely on the kindness of strangers

Here is the FAQ I wrote for Synology.

On Synology, we use /volume1/Plex (the “Plex” shared folder)

On regular linux, the top level directory changes

When you install using dpkg (downloaded from Plex)
the directory you’ll use is /var/lib/plexmediaserver

The structure you want to end up with is:
/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
with all the subdirectories under it.

Plex Media Server is what you bring from Windows (just as shown in the Syno FAQ)

On regular linux, you’ll finish off with sudo chown -R plex:plex /var/lib/plexmediaserver

This gives the plex user ownership / permission to all its internal files.

When PMS starts up, you will need to claim it (the registry information is not carried into Linux. )

Once claimed, by default, the server’s friendly name will be the computer’s hostname.

Thanks again for the reply.

I do have the following structure: /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server` however I dont have all subdirectories under it. If by subdirectories you mean Movies, TV Shows, Music etc.

You said “Plex Media Server is what you bring from Windows” - However given the catastrophic nature of the failure of my last plex machine there was nothing to bring from Windows.

It appears as though I have more work ahead.
Thanks again

Under Plex Media Server, you should see the internals.

You should not have any media (this would be fatal)

The “Media” directory here is where PMS keeps track of your media.
You do NOT put your media in there.
