After scanning library, some movies appear twice

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7621
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.108.0

Hi,

After scanning 1300 movies, some of them appear twice. One version is labelled “1 movie” and the other is labelled with the year of the movie.

The contextual menu in the “1 movie” version contains options “Shuffle”, “Play next”, “Add to queue”, “Add to >”, “Visible on >”, and “Delete”.

The second version with the year has a contextual menu with far more options : “Add to watchlist”, “Watch together”, “Play next”, “Add to queue”, “Add to”, “Mark as read”, “Refresh metadata”, “Analyze”, “Fix match”, “Unmatch”, optimize", “Save file”, “Grant access”, “Delete”, “View play history”, “Get info”.

In any case, there is only one .mp4 file in a folder of the same name. Why is that ?

What you’re seeing is the collection and the movie.

Few things, if you don’t want to see collection alongside movies, change the setting in Movie Library → Manage Library → Edit → Advanced → Collections

You also probably don’t want to create auto collections for only 1 movie, you should tweak this setting (in the same place as above):

Set this to 2 or more.

Thanks! But I still do not understand why Plex creates collection when there is only 1 file, and only for about 2% of the files!

Because that movie has been listed as part of a collection aka multi-movie series. Most movies are stand alone.
