After upgrade Version 1.28.1.6104, can't Play video when using ASS subtitle

Can’t Play video when using ASS subtitle… keep loading and loading but not start to play.
If disable “burn subtilte” or Play with .srt subtiltle is fine
This issue attend after upgrade the plex server to Version 1.28.1.6104 few day ago…

I did some more testing, here are some more details.

File: Dolby Vision, 4k mkv with 5.1 aac audio, and srt subtitles.
Plex client side: optical audio pass-through with ac3 and dts selected, auto adjust disabled

There is a known bug that converts srt subtitled into ass when audio is being converted from aac to ac3. This is where i am getting the ass subtitles.

Items tested:

  1. Switch to HDMI pass-through (this direct plays everything,but I lose surround sound since the tv only outputs 2 channel pcm) - result - everything plays instantly.
  2. externally convert the aac audio to ac3 and remux back into the file (with audio pass-through back to optical) - result - direct plays everything instantly.

I guess second test is a workaround, but that is frustrating. It was working fine until the latest update in the server.

Oh… I tested to play video on my Android phone plex app
Can’t play with .srt subtitle also…
And i tried updated the beta version server, but still can’t fix this problem…

I can’t told my old parent and family to change the setting on their client…
They don’t know how to do it, they prefer all simple click and play…

Better Rollback the server to the previous version?
But i’m afraid the libraries will crack and gone if doing wrong…

I Hope the Plex development team will release the bug fix asap.
