The only agent options I seem to have for TV is “Plex Series” and for films is “Plex Movies” even though I have gone into settings>libraries and edited the agent to be “TheTVDB” for my TV library and “The Movie Database” for my film library. I change it, it says “library upgrade required” so I click ok, but then if I go back to that library it’s changed back to “Plex Series” and “Plex Movie”?
The server agent settings only apply to the legacy agents which will be discontinued at some point (that’s why you run into the notification to upgrade to the current agents).
Upgrading the library brings it to the current-generation agent (for movies: Plex movie; for shows: Plex Series).
Any configuration for the current-generation agents is handled in the advanced options of libraries individually.
Is there a particular reason why you want to stick with the legacy ones?
But that’s where I changed it, in the advanced options of the libraries individually, but it keeps not staying as TheTVDB or The Movie Database.
The reason I need TheTVDB is because there are a few series that Plex Series isn’t finding that are on TheTVDB.
Side Note: I keep putting the details in manually for a show and adding a poster but every day it is wiped even though I used the locks. I’m guessing that’s because it’s unmatched, so that’s why I want TheTVDB so I can match it.
The Plex Series agent should also be able to handle shows listed on TheTVDb. The only exceptions coming to my mind are scenarios where those shows are listed as movies or other media kinds on e.g. IMDb.

You can enter tvdb-xxx in the search term of the fix-match dialog (where xxx is the show‘s TheTVDb ID as listed on their homepage)
You can include the same identifier in your show‘s top-level folder, using curly brackets (e.g. Show Name (Year) {tvdb-xxx})
I’ve worked out that if I change the agent to TheTVDB on my TV library advanced settings and not click upgrade library then it seems to work and I can match the show, but as soon as I click upgrade library it reverts back and I can’t match the show, and the advanced setting has changed back. What might be causing that?
