Agents are not working as they did

Server Version#: ElectricEel-24.10.2
Player Version#: 1.41.5.9522-a96edc606

Hey all, I’ve been using Plex for a few weeks and it’s been doing just fine, but today the new library additions are not picked up by the agents and it’s been throwing a hissy fit.

I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on but I cannot understand everything after reading so many forum entries or reddit posts. I’m beginning to be confused.

I probably should add I do have PiHole running, and I’ve tried to add plex.tv to the whitelist. That didn’t help.

I’ve added the logs, and would love some help.
Plex Media Server Logs_2025-03-27_08-44-37.zip (3.8 MB)

Seeing a lot of this in the logs:

Mar 27, 2025 08:43:09.042 [140203996887864] ERROR - MetadataAgentPostProcessor: failed to find agent for identifier tv.plex.agents.movie

Have you tried giving the entire Plex container access to the net bypassing the PiHole?

You have a network issue. DNS is broken in the container.

Mar 27, 2025 08:26:20.029 [140204100561720] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#1] HTTP error requesting GET https://plex.tv/media/providers?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (6, Couldn’t resolve host name) (Could not resolve host: plex.tv)

Not sure how to do this? Do I just remove any IP in the local network of the app settings?

How could this break suddenly? I haven’t changed anything software-wise. I did connect a new pool to the server, though.

Have you tried to simply restart the container?

Multiple times. I restarted both the server itself, and the Plex container.

You’ll have to figure out why the DNS resolution is broken, that’ll be very specific to your setup.

I’d start by bypassing the PiHole and resolving with a well known DNS provider like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 and going from there.

I do have 8.8.8.8 set up as a secondary DNS on my router. However, I don’t know what “start bypassing the pihole” means. Do you mind elaborating? I’m trying to look on my router settings, pihole, and the my truenas network settings for something that can help.
