AppleTV (2nd gen)
Previously using Airplay from my iPhone to the AppleTV always worked really well. Now it’s just stopped working.
As soon as I play the content I always get the ‘An error occurred loading this content.’ on screen.
In the server logs it just says ‘Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected after 25935872 bytes: 10054 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host’.
I’ve tried changing a number of settings, one at a time, but this has not made any difference.
Screen Mirroring works, but is jittery. Casting to Chromecast works fine, but the AppleTV is hardwired so gives a better experience. Seriously this has worked fine for the years and years I
I’ve been using Plex.
This direct plays on my iPhone 11 perfectly however the moment I try to AirPlay this file the server starts hardware transcoding to 720p video\OPUS audio, and completely stops playing on the client until it errors out. I can see in the logs there is constant spikes and drops in bandwidth usage however on the client side all that is seen is a cogwheel spinning.
Just to add to the info I’ve already provided, streaming video using Airplay to the Apple TV works fine for all other apps from the same phone, so the issue is specific to Plex.
Is there any other info you need from me to look into this?
The issue I’ve logged is that Plex can see my ATV, but it errors when I connect to it and try to play any media.
@mszargar can you see your ATV devices from your phone’s control centre? Swipe up, select the Airplay symbol and connect to it from there. Then switch to your Plex app.
