I doubt it will ever come into Airplay because it is encrypted.

But the video is just amazing. I tried the standalone airplayer app from Erica Sadun.

Unfortunately audio streaming indeed is not supported and I’m afraid that might never be since, as dawiinci pointed out, is encrypted and hasn’t been cracked yet afaik.

Nice plugin, works great!

Not that it matters in any way, but the only small issue I have found (if you are interested) is that it stutters a little bit for me as it starts the video in plex. It plays the first half second three times then runs flawless.

in terminal, "cd" to the place you have the file airplay.py and do "chmod +x airplayer.py".

If you have done all the points, then you can restart your Mac, start Plex and enjoy AirPlay !

I used the Airplayer from Erica Sadun and it worked without any stuttering or repeating at the start. I don't know how they are related to each other but if one can do it...

Or it is a problem with Plex, maybe the caching is too short and it loops.

I tried a video from iTunes. It works.

You can try Airplayer directly from Erica Sadun. It works great without Plex. It's just an App so you don't have to install anything.

is your script based upon the same source as Erica Saduns Airplayer? If so, she made a lot of updates maybe we can benefit of this work.

Anything else - even pausing on Plex works great. It's really just the initiation of the movie. It repeats the first 0.7s for about four times before it plays smoothly. I tested from an iPod touch and it doesn't matter from which app or if the media is local or not.
This doesn't happen on the Airplayer app from the link above. Could this be an issue with caching in Plex? Maybe the stream can wait another second before it shows the movie to cache a bit more. I pushed the Plex cache to 10s but it had no effect.

Ah I think I know what my problem seems to be. I can’t play DRM’ed content that I bought on iTunes from my iPhone to the Airplay plugin for Plex. Podcast downloaded videos from my local PBS station work fine. Some Pixar animated short films do not, they seem to start streaming and playing but never take over the Plex screen. Probably an issue not easily solved, which is why I believe Erica Sadun’s Airplayer app has to launch these same DRM’ed videos in QuickTime.

I just tried to get an app (Live TV) working with AirVideoEnabler. It doesn’t play. Did anyone already try that? It could also be an issue of the plugin.

Did you read the installation instructions? You need to install a few python dependencies, see https://github.com/PascalW/Airplayer/blob/master/INSTALL.mdown.

Read the installation procedure !!

Execute ‘sudo pip install -r requirements.txt’, this will install the required python packages. If you get ‘bash: pip: command not found’ then first execute ‘sudo easy_install pip’.

Its easier to first run airplayer in the foreground inside your terminal. Then you can see if everything works, if it doesn't you can see what's going wrong.

Follow this steps:

What Airplayer actually does is pretend to be an ATV. When you run Airplayer, your iDevice will recognize your Mac as an Airplay device where you can stream movies and pictures to, which will be displayed in Plex.

PascalW, do you have an idea how to fix the stuttering in the beginning? This is very uncommon to Airplay and even to Airplayer from Erica Sadun. So I guess the issue lies in the transformation to Plex. It seems it doesn't happen on photo streams. Maybe it is related to the audio.
