Album art corner rounding

Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone else wasn’t a big fan of the rounding on the corners of the album art. I’m maybe a bit of a purist, but I’d like to keep the album art pretty close to the original square shape. I understand why the rounding is being done, and in some cases I don’t really mind it too much, but I think it’s maybe a bit too extreme for every case. I won’t ask you to remove it completely because the app isn’t intended to please everyone all off the time, especially someone like me who is maybe just more of a purist than most, but perhaps we could reach a compromise and just maybe make the rounded corners less severely rounded? If it’s currently at like 75% rounded, maybe make it like 50% instead? I’m probably asking for too much in such a specific area, but I’ve noticed a few album covers looking a bit off to me because of the rounded corners, and maybe other people have as well. It’s all based on personal preference, so I doubt you’ll find that all people view the same album covers as “off” looking, but I’m used to certain album covers looking exactly a certain way and when they look even slightly different it weirds me out. The rounded corners just change how some album covers look, and I guess I prefer them less rounded looking. My ideal solution would be to have a setting that just removes the rounding from the album covers, but I understand not wanting to clog up the settings with more options.

Thanks for reading my very small nitpick. :stuck_out_tongue:

Out of curiosity, are you talking about the big poster in the player, or all small posters in lists?

The big poster in the player. If you compare it to the cover art in the regular Plex app, you can see the differences. I actually prefer how the album art is handled in the regular Plex app player, to be honest. It’s both bigger and more square. I want to be able to clearly see the beautiful artwork that the artist wanted to be seen! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not a fan of the rounded corners either. And that goes for all the covers and poster in both Plexamp and every other player. Even though in most cases it’s not that intrusive, the album art and movie posters were never designed with round corners in mind. Especially artwork with borders, frames or lots of text look wrong in my opinion (I prefer original movie posters with credits in my library). A slider option to regulate this would be great (0–100%), and would satisfy everyone. But I agree this is nitpicking

Yeah, this is pretty much my opinion, just in less words and better explanation. Like you said, album art and movie posters were never designed with round corners in mind, and certain artwork really does look strange, especially with borders…

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I quite like them.

I really like them. Looks much more polished. I wish they rounded all the corners through the ecosystem or at least make it an option in the settings.

Having an option for having stuff rounded or unrounded would be ideal. A 0-100 slider or something.
