When I add NEW CD albums to my NAS and ask it to scan for new data, on some multiply albums say a set of 5 CDS, label Disc 1, Disc 2 etc. Sometime I get an icon per CD which is fine sometimes I get just one icon containing the 5 CD’s which is also fine, however wants really annoying is Ive had it split the discs so you might get just tracks 2 and 3 under one icon and then the remainder under a different one? I tag ALL my CD’s correctly so why is it doing this and is there an easy way to manually edit and re-group the tracks under the correct album artwork?

The disc number does not belong into the metatag for AlbumTitle.

Hi, thanks for your help on this one? But surely it should sort them by Album Name? ie 101 Power Ballads [Disc 1], 101 Power Ballards [Disc 2] where the album names are clearly different? In my case, it seems random sometimes it will give an icon for [Disc 1] and an icon for [Disc 2] albums other times it will lump them all together and annoyingly other times it will split an album into two parts with tracks 1-5 on one and then tracks 6-20 on another? as shown above? Is there an easy way to re-do this? at present, I’m having to delete the incorrect ones and then add them back In one at a time but this just takes ages!!!

This is the same album. Therefore the [Disc x] needs to go from the AlbumTitle meta tag.
There is a separate DiscNumber meta tag.

Yes I do fill in the Disc Number field in the metta date or as windows puts it Part of set, 1fo5, 2of5, 3of5,4of5 & 5of5
I used different names in my album title fields so iTunes puts them into different folders when importing? Make it easier when say you are using car play for example, but I am still populating the disc number meta data field as well but this seems to be getting ignored?

You can’t do that, or Plex will continue to behave as it did.

I don’t see any logic to it? If I take my time and delete the incorrectly placed cd’s and then add them back in one at a time it will then work correctly, but if i throw in say 10 cd’s all in one go some will work and some won’t? I can see any logic to the way it’s behaving? Is there any way to manually re-combine these back together ? or is deleting the cds and then re adding them the only way to sort this mess out? If I throw all of these into an blank iTunes library it works 100% of the time? it one thing I do to check for any errors like a missing disc number or misspelt title?

Plex is not iTunes and does not necessarily behave like iTunes.

You can try “Merge”, but it can get frustrating quite quickly.
