Alerts no longer displaying

No, haven’t heard or read anything about it. This is the only thread I can even see asking about the issue. Almost makes me wonder if no one else is asking about the matter, that no one pays any attention to the notifications in their alerts and Plex has simply decided to do away with them, or maybe at some point in the near future make it a Plex Pass only feature? But I don’t understand how it’s something that would simply disappear unintentionally. And if it was intentional, why there was no mention of their decision to do so.

Guess I’ll bump this again since we have no official response yet

This has been going on for a month or longer here, and at least four PMS (beta) versions back. I have a Plex Pass, and I always use the latest beta.

Windows Server 2016, btw.

Ya, sounds about right. I posted about it March 18th, and noticed it was occurring about 2 weeks prior to that. I would like an official word on it. Have the alerts been discontinued on purpose? Was it done an error and they’re aware of it and working on it, or is it something that none of the devs are even aware of?

Is there a way for Plex Pass holders to view the information pertaining to which users have accessed which media or are you out of luck as well?

I don’t think this is affecting nearly everyone. Otherwise, reports would be all over the place, here and on Reddit. I’ve seen very few.

I need to know what people are watching, just like Reid Hastings can for every Netflix user

And I can confirm that today’s new version still doesn’t have a fix…

The title of this thread is misleading, though. It’s not that alerts are no longer displaying, it’s that playback notifications don’t show. Everything else still does. At least for me.

It’s not misleading, they’re literally alerts that are no longer displaying. And the title doesn’t read that ALL notifications aren’t being displayed, if you’re looking to get technical on the matter. If you search for Plex and Playback notifications, nothing relevant gets returned because they’re not officially called ‘playback notifications’. And aside from that, I’ve explained in detail what the issue was in the body of the message.

I’ll give you that, but it’s probably important to note that it really is only the playback alerts that no longer show up. Let’s hope it gets fixed sooner rather than later. Not that it’s a functionality-breaking issue…

Bumping this, still awaiting official response

I don’t think it’s difficult to give an official response here. A “Yes, we’re aware of the issue and a fix will be forthcoming at some future point”, or “The Alerts have been intentionally removed” will even do at this point.

I’m seeing the same bug. I’m a PlexPass user with server version 1.18.9.2571 installed.

This had been my only way to know if people I share access with were using my library, but it no longer works. Hopefully it’ll get fixed, or better still the “Dashboard/Play History” would be fixed to show movies that people started watching, not just items that got played all the way through to the end.

MovieFan.Plex - Any further info on when this bug may be fixed? Thanks for your help if so!

I haven’t even heard of anyone else talking about this yet, so I don’t know how widely known or even cared about it is. I don’t know what others are using to see who has viewed which movies/tv shows, Tautulli maybe? Is there somewhere else this question should be asked to get it in front of the eyes of the development team?

Bumping this, still awaiting official response.

I am having the same problem. I noticed there was an update tonight so I did that and still have the same issue. As you can see in the attached photo, a user is accessing content but it is not showing in the dashboard alerts.

In the meantime, while waiting on something that may never come, I’ve decided to install Tautulli to keep up to date on which users are watching what. It’s actually much, much more detailed than what the alerts show. I had known about its existence but never bothered with it simply because of the alerts on Plex, but with the alerts having been removed, this kind of gave me the kick in the pants to go down the road of installing Tautulli to monitor Plex usage, and I’m really glad that I did.

At this point, I feel that waiting on any word about these alerts is like waiting on something that’s never going to come.

BUMP. Still don’t know what device and media is being played to display on the Alerts tab.

MovieFan.Plex (or anyone from Plex)- Any further info on when this bug may be fixed? Any chance anyone from Plex can respond at all? Thanks for your help if so!

I am having this issue as of today. I believe it was my upgrade to 1.19.3.2764 that has triggered it.

I’ve reported this to the team but no updates so far. Just for clarification, can you guys explain what the impact of this bug is for you. To me, it’s just a visual glitch. All playback information should still be in the history. If you don’t have a Plex Pass and can’t access that, then I see this could be a big issue.
