Thank you much for the response. To answer your question - History only shows an item if it is played all he way through to completion. When Alerts were working, they would show any time an item was stared. For the people I share items with, only about half the items that get started get played all the way through to completion (and end up showing in History). If there was a way to show all playback info in History, instead of just completed items, that would be even better than getting Alerts working again. Thanks for your help on this!
Hello MovieFan.Plex,
In Plex Media Server, when navigating to āSettingsā, and then clicking on āAlertsā, this section used to show what time my users started watching media, what media they were watching, and which authorized device (Playstation, Roku, iPhone, Web Browser, etc) the user was watching on. This information is no longer populating.
I can still see when a user is actively watching content from the āActivityā page, but there is no longer an alert generated in the āAlertsā section for when my users begin a stream.
Please let me know if you need any clarification. Thank you!
I am having this problem too. If I, or anyone who Iām sharing my library with starts a movie or TV show, it does not show up in my alerts. This seems to have started within the past week. Iām not sure what triggered it, but perhaps it was an update that did.
It started for me, and others, back in mid-March and I hadnāt updated at all.
Man, thatās interesting! It only started with me within the past 7 days. Not exactly sure when it started, but it was within the past week.
For me it is more of a troubleshooting tool, instead of relying on someone to tell me exactly when they started an item, I could refer to the alerts page. I have been using tautulli recently to parse out the same information but it would be nice not to have to rely on a 3rd party tool just to see a time stamp of when someone started watching something.
I will also add that as jsturtle stated, it would be great to see partially played items in history!
I just encountered this problem yesterday. Before then, I was able to refer to the alerts page to know what content my serverās users were interested in. Now I feel powerless and oblivious. It would be truly disappointing if this feature was removed and made exclusive to Plex passā¦
It disappeared for Plex Pass users as well. In my case, early March.
It seems to have stopped working for me as well about a week ago. Updated today to Version 1.19.3.2831 and still not working. I too use this feature to view what is being watched regularly. I am also a Plex Pass user.
Is this being looked into by anyone, or is there another place to report features not working?
Iām also having the same issue as well. Iām a plex pass member and just noticed the bug today, I just updated to the latest public version available (1.19.3.2843) and Iām still having this issue.
I am having the same issue - Plex Pass user. Would be great to get an official word on the reasoning behind this!
Same for me, i noticed the issue a few months ago when accessing the server via the normal app.plex.tv site so i played around and accessed the server locally which for me is http://192.168.1.72:32400 but that obviously depends on your network setup, anyway accessing the server this way showed all the normal infomation in alerts until a few days ago.
Ive tried clearing history, restarting the server, the browser, im on the latest version of Plex but still nothing.
This explains why I thought no one was using my server anymore !!
(effective bump)
This issue started for me after the outage yesterday. It was working fine earlier in the day. I did sign out and back in once everything was back up⦠I wonder if that had anything to do with it?
Is there still no update on this? No response back from anyone on Plexās side? Almost two months of this now :(.
I created this post in mid-March after encountering the issue. Iāve long since given up hoping for a response and instead have installed Tautulli which is infinitely better than the basic info provided in the Alerts. In addition to it being better, it also retains all data after its installation regardless of turning your computer off and on so youāre much better able to track all sorts of metrics related to usage data.
I have active Plex pass on my linux server and Im having same issue. No alerts for any users only meta data alerts
same thing here with Linux server and plex. Not glad to see Its everyone. Was hoping someone had this fix.
MovieFan.Plex (or anyone from Plex)- Any further info on when this bug may be fixed, or at least a workaround found? If anyone from Plex can give us an update on when this bug may be fixed it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help if so!

Alternately, if this bug never will be fixed, any chance of at least adding a āStartedā and āEndedā column in place of the single āPlayedā column in the PlayHistory screen, and then show items that were started but never ended, as well as the start/end times for paused movies that spanned days?
