Alex onto ATV3

Apologies, i have searched but couldn’t find a definitive answer. I have Plex running on my Mac Mini and am trying to get my ATV3 to see it.
I first off tried the way using Terminal, but it constantly said Webserver not alive, shutdown, etc, words to that effect.Changed the DNS settings etc as per instructions but still nothing.

I have now discovered Open Plex but once opening the installer it just sits there for ages, not doing anything. I have also tried this on my MacBook pro, same thing. Both are running OS X 10.11 - El Capitan.

Any help would be appreciated.

The ATV3 does not support the plex app.
You have to use plex connect. you will find a special forum for plex connect here.

Sorry, my post was a bit ambiguous. I’m trying to install Open Plex or Plex Connect, not Plex server in order for the ATV3 to see my Plex server.

Plex connect is the one that keeps giving me the web server not alive notice, and Open Pkex is the o e that just hangs.

As per the second reply in this thread, this subforum is for the official ATV app, which is only available to versions of the ATV that have a store (at this point only the ATV4). There’s a separate subforum for openplex or plexconnect.
