Alexa error “uh-oh, something went wrong, I’ve alerted the Plex team so they can take a look”

Server Version#: 1.15.2.793 (plex)
Player Version#:1.24.205223.0 (alexa client) 2.2.250163.0 (alexa bridge)

Have removed and added plex skill on alexa twice, and removed and readded the alexa device on plex. The plex app on my cell phone plays music from my server. When Alexa is asked to play songs on my plex server, she returned the error message “uh-oh, something went wrong, I’ve alerted the Plex team so they can take a look” Have talked to Amazon - they can’t offer help. Can anyone at Plex help? Thanks.

Server Version 1.15.2.793

Having same problem. I have 3 echos all of them on the same network but one will not play audio back via Plex. I keep getting ‘Ut Oh something went wrong’

Echo 2nd gen works
Echo Dot 2nd gen works
Echo Dot 3rd gen does not work.

Also removed/deregistered and re-registered device, tried changing device name/etc. Thanks.

Same version, same issue. I’ve 4 echo dots 3rd gen none of them works (“somethin went wrong”). I tried adding and removing the device on plex and the skill on alexa but nothing changes. Could you please fix the issue? Thanks

After trying this three times it worked. The order is important. First I disabled the Plex skill on the Alexa app. The closed the App. Next checked authorized devices on the Plex app (if Alexa is still there remove it by clicking the x). Then I signed out of the Plex app. Next I started the Alexa App and enabled the Plex skill. Then I asked Alexa to play a song on Plex. Alexa said she couldn’t find the server and asked if I wanted to change server. The counter-intuitive part is say yes (not no) and then Alexa should look for servers and find yours. Plex on Alexa has worked for several days now after doing the steps above. But I’m disappointed how fragile the connection of Alexa to my Plex server on a PC has turned out to be. It’s not trouble free.

After trying sallyclement_comcast_net’s solution, all 3 of my echoes no longer connect to my plex server. Plex team, please fix this, it’s why I bought my echoes.

I’m also having the exact same problem with all Echos in my house.

Neither of my Plex servers are reachable from Alexa’s, even after disabling and re-enabling the skill multiple times.

For what it might be worth, voice control from my Living Room Echo to my NVIDIA Shield suspiciously stopped working at the same time.

Maybe Amazon has changed something on the back-end?

Having the same issues over here. I had it working a few months ago but I bought a new setup and needed to re-enable it. Now it’s not working at all.

Same issue here:

It first stopped working with the Vizio client, not that big of a deal as the Sony Bravia (Android TV) client is the main TV anyway and Plex seems to have abandoned the older Vizio client.

Then was working only sporadically on the Sony. Its been sometime and just updated the sever the other day again and thought I’d give it a shot. But now only get “Uh oh, something went wrong. I’ve alerted the Plex team so they can take a look.“ no matter the ask Plex phrase I try. I’ve futilely tried all suggestions I’ve found to no avail.

Server Version 1.15.3.858
Latest clients on older model Vizio and on Sony Bravia

Echo, Echo Plus, and 2 second gen dots

Hi, I’m having exactly the same issues - I’ve tried all the solutions listed here (updating Plex app, deauthorising Alexa, disabling skill etc) on an Echo 2nd generation. Plex has never worked, and with Amazon Music coming offline shortly I’m looking for another service if my trusty Plex server won’t play nicely with Alexa.

I’m running Plex web client Version 3.83.1 on up-to-date WIndows 7, and remote access is fullly accessible outside my network on port 32400.

No matter what I try, Alex says “Uh oh, something went wrong. I’ve alerted the Plex team so they can take a look.” . Is Alexa actually doing this?

Same here too. Tried everything listed above.
I have been using Plex with Alexa for quite some time with no problems…(other than being flaky with the names of songs.) The Alexa Plex app has gone through some major improvement since it’s first release, but now it just doesn’t work. I don’t know if it’s an Alexa problem or a Plex problem, but it’s broken. It’s probably only been a week or so since I have used it, I first noticed yesterday.
My solution for now is to use Plex with my phone or table and connect to Alexa with Bluetooth.

I have the same issue on all of my echos which include the Spot, 1st gen Show, 1st and 2nd gen Dots, 1st gen Echo. I thought maybe it was because I had turned on Song ID recently, but turning it off didn’t change anything.

Are we ever going to get an update from Plex on this issue?

Same problem for me, worked perfectly for me before. 3 Dots, 1 Spot and 1 Echo. Have disabled and re-enabled skill many times, have gone back to earlier server versions etc. After first request says “Having trouble accessing Plex Skill” and from then on “Uh Oh Encountered a problem Contacting Plex Developer etc.”.

Come on Plex - sort it out. I’m a regular paying Plex Pass customer. I expect better.

Just trying to find when last update made, but no record on the Amazon Skill Store (as useful as ever!).

Plex - would suggest you regress to the previous version please, so we can go back to what we had at the very least.

Ditto here. Tried to listen to some Plex playlists with a few beverages, no dice. Tried disabling in various prefer, rebooting, reconfigure. Plex team was bombarded by my Echos last night. Updated to latest version that showed on my server Yesterday.

The lack of acknowledgement from Plex around the instability of the Alexa integration is pretty frustrating.

Same issue. I had 3 Echo Dots working until I tried to add an Echo Spot today. Now none of them work. Help, Plex!

Same problem here.

Same issue here.
New echo dot 3rd gen. Plex server is a WD My Cloud Home. Fire stick and multiple phones and laptops all connect fine. Disabled and re-enabled the Plex skill multiple times, even started from scratch with a different Amazon account. Still get the uh oh… error.

Exact same problem and symptoms. PLex working fine on Firestick but all my echos give same response. Only set this up yesterday so never been working. Hope we get some guidance, looks great if I can get it working
