Alexa error “uh-oh, something went wrong, I’ve alerted the Plex team so they can take a look”

Got Emby setup (you are right, little tricky - mostly because I had to deal with SSL certificates (I HATE certificates)).

Still trying to get plex to not do relay/remote playing now. Alexa works, but music looks like it is being remoted not local.

My Alexa Plex skills works again. I think there’s a bug on Plex software side. I notice that sometimes the Plex web UI reports that my server is not reachable from outside from internet, and when that happens for few minutes Plex Alexa skill doesn’t work.
I hope Plex makes this outside connection to the Plex own server more stable.

A few days after it stopped working my Plex skill for Alexa started working again. Not sure what changed since I didn’t update to a newer version of Plex at that time. Today I updated to Plex version 1.18.2.2058. After the update I initially lost the Alexa skill on one of my Echo devices. After rebooting both the Win 10 machine that houses my Plex Server and the Echo device that wouldn’t work, and ensuring the Plex server could be accessed outside the network, the Plex skill for Alexa started working again. Overall my experience with the Plex skill for Alexa is positive since it allows me to access my 80000 song music collection throughout the house via several Amazon Echo devices…

I have my server remotely accessible and NAT reflection enabled on my pfsense router, but whenever I tell Alexa to play something it looks like it’s about to go but then I get a playback error saying it’s not available. I can still pause n whatnot just fine though If the video was already going.

Does anyone know if the media sever, Alexa device, or plex player need to be on the same network? I have an unnecessarily complicated network where iot, servers, and personal devices don’t talk to each other much. All I can think of is is maybe it has something to do with how alexa initiates the stream, but I’m not quite sure how to solve this…

A couple of days ago I started getting the uh-oh message when trying to play music through my echo dot (3rd Gen) it had been working fine until then. Tried all the various fixes listed to no effect. I haven’t updated the PMS for a while so that’s not it.

Still hoping that one day the skill will support home accounts.

I just bought the new Echo STUDIO. It WAS working fine up until a couple days ago. My Echo Show 5 still works with PLEX but now my Echo Dot and Echo STUDIO no longer work. OH OH…something went wrong!!! Alerting the PLEX team. WTF!!!

This is REALLY annoying!!! SAME PROBLEM. I purchased the new Echo STUDIO so I could listen to music from my PLEX server and NOW…NOTHING!!! TOTAL BS. WTF?

I bought the new Fire Cube v2 to replace the Echo Dot.
I’m getting the “uh-oh” messages constantly.
Any ideas?

Until last week, Plex was streaming successfully to my 4 Fire Sticks, my 2 DOTs, my Echo Input, my Echo Show (original) and my Echo Show 5. Now it is not playing on the Show 5 (my newest device which is in my office) and I get the “uh-oh” message. Amazon say it must be Plex’s fault since all other functionality on my Show 5 is OK. Looking at the Skill ratings on Amazon, Plex is not regarded very highly, and, reading here, it seems very unpredictable.

Truly annoying and inconsistent. In addition to the “something went wrong” I nearly always have to tell plex to loop twice. The first time fails pretty consistently.

I had the same problem, intermittently, for months. Finally figured out what it was. Alexa defaults to the Plex player on my Android TV box (which I use infrequently as I also have Plex on my LG TV). If I launch Plex on my Android box, Alexa magically starts to play my music again when I ask her! So check out which Plex player Alexa defaults to, open it up and then try asking Alexa to play something again. Works every time for me.

Getting this again today. So far the only command Alexa understands is tell plex to play some music which shuffles my library. Asking anything else like play album or playlist gets the uh oh response.
A few months ago she no longer understood 2 of my playlist names - classical and oldies. I had to rename them my classical and my oldies before she would play them. What gives? Is this an Alexa or plex issue?

Not sure if anyone is even reading this thread anymore but it turned out, this time anyway, to be a Plex server problem. After contacting Amazon and not getting anywhere with them or from here I decided to install Plex server on another computer and everything with Alexa worked fine except for one thing. So I reinstalled the server on my main box and got it running and working with Alexa except for one thing again. The one thing is Alexa still does not understand when I ask to play the playlist Oldies or Classical. I had to rename both as mentioned in my original post. Anyone confirm having the same issue?

Add Ambient to the words Alexa does not understand with Plex. When asking “Alexa, shuffle/play the playlist Ambient” she responds " I’m sorry I didn’t catch what you wanted to play. Please ask again". This is the same reply with Classical and Oldies. I wonder how many more. Again, this only started happening about 3-4 months ago and a new server install on a different computer and a fresh install on the original did not correct.

The Alexa skill has never worked for me. It successfully talks to my server and can do things like tell me what’s on deck. It lists my Synology Plex server as my only server, which is correct. But any attempt to play music using any phrase i see documented always fails. I’ve followed the FAQ to make sure the server is configured correct.y.

What should I try next?

I have had this problem intermittently. It also tells me it has informed plex to try to resolve the issue.
A couple times after telling alexa to change my server it came back ok, but last time I tried this it didn’t help. This is the sole purpose of my Echo Dot, so if it won’t be reliable, then it will go on ebay, and I will get a goolge nest which I can at least cast to.

If anyone at Plex or Amazon care about this please contribute to the discussion. Otherwise just tell everyone it’s no longer supported, since that appears to be the case.

Having the issue as well, I have two servers a western digital cloud pro and a PC server at my folks. I put the pc server at my folks, my mom likes to use the echo dot to play her yoga audios. when playing from my main server there is a cache delay and sometimes the my cloud needs a reboot.

this past week My mom gets the uh error when trying to play the file on the server connected in their local network. If she tries my cloud server it will say playing but nothing happens

it was working for her two days ago but today nothing.
the plex app on tablets and phones will work but she wants it on the amazon devices

I would suggest playlist names of at least 4 syllables.

After trying everything to get plex to play with the echo, I remembered someone saying to check your alexa account (not sure if it was this forum). For some reason I had registered alexa with one Amazon email account and the echo with another. Simply asking the echo to change account (they were both in the amazon ‘household’) did the trick. Hope this helps someone.

I’ve been having this problem for like,. ever… still no joy. Running this through AppleTV as player.
