I found no documented Skill for this, so I assume it doesn’t exist. If I am wrong, please let me know.
When I ask Plex to play a movie, sometimes Alexa comes back with streaming the movie from Prime Video, even though I have a ripped copy in my Movies library.
If I ask “Play Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott’s”, which I have in my “Concerts” Library, I get a streamed version from off the web.
I see no command documented in the article “Alexa Voice Commands” on the Plex site to specify “Tell Plex to play The Big Lebowski from my Movies library”.
Further, I see no Alexa Skill to specify search order.
“Alexa, search my Libraries first”
“Alexa search Prime Video - My Purchased Movies for Point Break”
“Play A Walk In The Cloud” and have a default search order that doesn’t try to rent me a movie I already own…
Thanks for your consideration.
Ask Alexa to “Open Plex”
Have the correct services added to Discover.
“Alexa” will give more accurate results from here.
What “services” should I add to Discover?
This is the BEST I have been able to come up with…
- I just uninstalled Plex app on my FireTV4K Max, then reinstalled the current player off the Amazon AppStore. (So no beta. ver 9.30…)
- link the new Plex app to my Plex account
- With the remote voice button “Open Plex” or “Open Keiths Plex” (both work)
- using the remote buttons, right click to expand and see my Plex libraries.
then down arrow to the search and Select
- in the Search UI, use the remote buttons to enter a title or keyword. (fat works for "My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
- arrow over to the found item and select
- Select Play and the movie plays off my HDD.
ALL attempts to find or get or play via the remote’s voice button fail to find media in my Plex libraries. Plex content does NOT show up in Additional ways to view…
It is impossible to find or play Plex content via the remote using voice commands. (PLEASE prove me wrong…)
I have “Advertise as player” enabled.
I have Alexa Skills installed on my Amazon account.
I have spent weeks trying to get simple voice commands to work.
This should not be this difficult.
(I did have some success with a beta release 9.26… on an Amazon FireTV4K two months ago. My next step is to try duplicating that configuration.)
Please advise.
Thanks
