Received an Echo Show 8 for Christmas - would love Plex (Movies, Photos, TV Shows) on it !

Hello.
I have an Echo Show 8 as well, but I can’t get Plex to work on it.
Alexa goes to Plex and even suggests commands but these don’t work.
I do get “Recently added” displayed on the screen as a list but even then if I say play one of the tracks Alexa does so from Amazon music.
Alternatively it tells me that my music library is empty which it isn’t.
Has anyone got Plex working on Alexa?
Please can anyone post how to get Plex working on Alexa?
I have downloaded the Plex skill and enabled it so this all seems strange.

Would be a fantastic addition. I can just see all the “Echo Show” that Amazon would sell if this was available!

Hey Plexians what is it with your aversion to Amazon devices? Playing videos on the show devices using Plex via Firefox browser works fine so it would seem that a Plex ‘skill’ could be developed that would allow this functionality. Maybe ‘skill’ is the key word in this statement. ;_)

Already got an echo show in the kitchen, but with the recent announcement of the new echo show 10, which I intend to upgrade to, I’m even more excited for this feature. Please PLEX devs :grinning:

Monthly subscriber here. We either need this feature or we need a satisfactory answer about why this isn’t possible. This hardware is in a lot of homes, so it should be a priority. If you can’t make it work, perhaps you shouldn’t have killed 3rd party plug-ins.

Long time Plex pass member. Another vote for video playback support. We have 5 echo show devices and video playback would be great. Prime video plays back like a charm, so it’s technically possible. Is it a choice not to support it? If so, why?

Firefox works fine to play video content including recorded TV and movies on my echo show 1 and 5. But live TV freezes within minutes on both with a spinning circle in the center. Don’t know what the difference is. Live TV works fine on our Fire TV devices.

So 3.5 years later and still absolutely nothing has been done? Perhaps if we wait for 70 years they’ll get round to thinking about it so that is 184 years we might have an Alexa skill that isn’t total rubbish

So, Netflix is playing on my echo show now!

Not sure what’s the deal with Plex dev team, but it seems they aren’t as focused on long time users like us.

I wish they would open source the Alexa skill, so we could make it work if they are not willing to put the effort.

Latest beta of what? Plex server? Or there’s a way to Install a latest beta of the Alexa skill?

I’ve tried 2 days ago and it still doesn’t play on my echo show.

I really don’t understand who holds it back?, Amazon or Plex?, can someone give a reasonable timelines or indication that they understand the need?

I truly don’t understand how this isn’t available yet. My only thought is Amazon is putting a stop to it to promote their own streaming services.

Well, we have to keep hope alive, right?

I went to check if plex would play on my echo show today, and still nothing.

Now we have Prime video (off course) and netflix as proper video apps in the echo show “video” section. But I was surprised to see that “freaking” Red Bull TV is there as well!!

Why not PLEX? I really don’t get it. Plex now has the Live TV channels that they are advertising so much, having a PLEX video app in echo show would essentially turn it into a proper little TV!!

I known PLEX does run in the Echo Show browser, but It’s kinda ridiculous to have to keep taping in a browser in a really small screen, on a VOICE ACTIVATED device!

I can just ask alexa to play something on netflix, and it starts playing! All I want is to ask alexa to resume whatever I was watching on PLEX, and it would just start playing!

Instead, I have to ask alexa to open SILK, and start tapping without my glasses to be able to see whats on the screen. Not to mention the video NEVER starts in fullscreen in SILK and I have to tap on that little fullscreen symbol with my fat finger, and it takes a bunch of tries to make it work, and the audio on SILK is really LOW, and I have to increase the volume a lot since there’s no audio boost anymore in transcoding options on the server, and then when I ask something to alexa “she” SCREAMS like a crazy “person”!! LOL

It would be A M A Z I N G to be able to change rooms, for example, when I have to cook, and ask PLEX to resume whatever I was watching in the other room!!

Please please please, Plex team! Netflix and even “fudging” RedBullTV managed to make it work on the echo show
 I’m pretty sure you guys can manage to make it work too!!
