ALF (1986) Season 02 - TV series not matching episodes correctly

Hello!
There is a mixup with the episode numbers.

When recording ALF (1986) Season 02: DVR/EPG

S02E12 is a double-Episode so it’s usually S02E12-E13

But after Cut and Move to Series-Folder there is an other other.
S02E12 is named Wenn der Weihnachtsmann kommt – Teil 1
S02E13 should be Wenn der Weihnachtsmann kommt – Teil 2 but part 2 is missing
S02E13 is named Der Junge von Nebenan title of E14
S02E14 is E15 etc up to E25/E26

So this should be correct:

See also S01E16 / S01E17 same thing but correct!

Which agent is selected for this Plex library?
Which “episode ordering” is selected?

S02E13 is missing on TheTVDB, so you don’t want to select “TheTVDB (aired)” as episode ordering.

Remove the “-13” from the Xmas episode file name, then perform the Plex dance.

It was me.
I tried yesterday to correct it on TVDB, but did not copy E12 to E13.
Thats why E13 is missing there.

All other Seasons have 26 Episodes. Every Episode has about 25min. or double → 50
All double Episode have two Entries with (1) or (2)

Anyway i wonder where did Plex get the “Teil 1” Information from?
Also “Teil 2” is missing.

PS: Plex Dance did not work as expected…
Where did “Plex TV Series” get it’s information from? When it’s Synced with thetvdb it maybe takes 1-2 days more?

3 times “Duplicate of a special”, “Unknown” and “Invalid”… with the same date of E12

btw. this is the Episode-information from EPG…

(i just doble-checked, there is no part 1/2 information on E12 in EPG/DVR)

so E13 is “officially” missing!?
E14-E26 is all shifted by 1 on Plex TV Series

The EPG comes only into play if you let Plex record the episodes and then leave them be.

But as soon as you start renaming or moving or recoding files, the metadata of the EPG are lost. From then on, only the episode ordering listed on the metadata sources TheTVDB and TheMovieDB are relevant.

Oh, and DON’T change the ordering on these websites to reflect the episode ordering of the 20th re-run on some obscure cable channel in Germany.

But it don’t solve the Problem…

Of course it doesn’t.

Here are some points you need to know:

  • The “Plex TV Series” agent is using the episode ordering from TheMovieDB.org by default ALF: Season 2 (1987) — The Movie Database (TMDB)
  • You can switch to the default “aired” episode ordering of TheTVDB.com either globally for the whole library, or individually for each tv show.
  • individually per show you can also switch to TheTVDB’s “Absolute” and “DVD” orderings
  • if you change data on either TheTVDB or TheMovieDB, it will take usually 48 hours before the changes are available in Plex.
  • Both websites have a policy which disallows to change the primary (“aired”) ordering to anything different than how the tv show was aired the first time. (Even if that was wrong, like it happened with “Firefly”.) If you change that, this will be reverted.
All you can do is to look up your show on both websites and pick one of the orderings which fit your files best. If you don’t find a “perfect” ordering, change the names of your episodes and re-sort them.

So anyway in “Plex TV Series” is the (1) for English title or “Teil 1” for German to much when (2) is non existent

I tried to switch the Agent for ALF to aired and English today, but a quick check just changed the language with same problem.
I will try the Plex Dance the next Days again… maybe the 48h help

Update: Switching to TMDB did it…!!

@OttoKerner
My default Scanner/Agent for TV Series Plex TV Series but the Order set to TheTVDB (Should i switch to TMDB?)
My default Scanner/Agent for Movies is Plex Movie

you can change any individual show to use another without changing the library default

Thanks! Everything is fine now.

TheTVDB (Aired) or others are wrong.
ALF must be set to TMDB (Aired) - for me
