Server Version#: 1.18.2.2015
Player Version#: 7.23.0.13018
Since this latest server update, I noticed random skipping(2-3 seconds) ahead during playback after 20 or so hours of the plex server running. When I reboot the service on the server (or even the server itself), it’s fine for another 20 hours or so, then the skipping ahead begins. This happens primarily on roku and firestick (other devices as well, but very rarely).
I also noticed this update no longer uses the correct dedicated NIC I had originally setup for Plex and regardless of what I do to try and force it to use the dedicated NIC for Plex, it refuses. So instead of fighting with it, I let it take the NIC of its choice and just changed the IP to the one with all the routing rules setup for Plex Server. Not sure if that’s causing the issue, but I feel like this behavior is a transcoding issue.
Running Manjaro 18.1.2, dual hexacore xeons, and 96gb of ram. Monitoring the resources and there is nothing crushing the hardware even under load… I am not running a dedicated GPU and do not enable hardware acceleration.
I tried looking at the Plex logs for an error in playback, but I can’t pinpoint one.
This only began happening after the latest Plex Server update.
Is this an issue others are experiencing?
Curious if problem is the new plex server software or some kind of configuration on my end so I can effectively allocate my time on either fixing it, rolling back, or waiting for an update.
It’s just difficult because I can’t tell if what I adjust works for at least 20 hours afterwards.
If you guys have a code repo, I’d love to take a gander and help figure out/fix the issue if it’s the server application.
