All episodes of a series treated as one episode

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Player Version#: Web 4.49.2 and current Android App

I have a problem I never had in over 7 years of Plex Pass.
I inserted a new season of a series. “Das Boot” season 2.

I named all the files as always:

But this time Plex treats all episodes as one episode. It firstly showed Season 2 in the media overview but with only one episode. Ep. 2 was shown with 8 files (indicated by blue 8 in the corner).

I separated them in the plex edit menu, then I saw all 8 episodes in season 2. But only the second episode has the media description from thetvdb.com. All other episodes show only “episode 1”, “episode 3” and so on…

When I now start viewing in Plex Web App or on my Android device, and I watch episode 1 for some minutes, then all 8 episodes show the progress. I watched episodes 1, 2 and 3 for roundabout half the episode. Then I interrupted viewing and returned later and as I continue viewing, it starts again at episode one at the timecode I stopped at episode 3.

When I select “mark as watched” at episode 1 all 8 episodes are marked as watched. When I select “mark as unwatched” at episode 6 for example, all 8 episodes are marked as unwatched.

Can anybody help me with this issue?

Regards
Benni

I have mine named like so:

Das Boot (2018)
  Season 02
    Das Boot (2018) - s02e01 - Episode 5.mkv

or you could try a fix match using the id from the tvdb (352822)

I suspect there’s some embedded metadata that’s giving conflicting input for the matching.
The file naming itself seems ok (assuming the show/season is properly grouped/structured).

I would have to go with Tom80H on this one.

I now moved all video files from episode 2 outside the plex-structure, then reloaded the categorie and emptied trash. Then re-inserted the episode-2-files and rescaned the series.

Now it seems to work.

Thank you for your help.

Sounds like an issue I had earlier. How To Fix Incorrect Grouping TV Shows
