I can’t seem to find any way to get local devices to show up as connected locally.
the IP of the server is in a normal range (192.168.1.xxx).
the Plex settings on the server seem to be set up as recommended.
The firewall on the server has the recommended incoming and outgoing ports set as recommended
But if I turn off remote access on the server then nothing can connect
interestingly I can access through the site using 192.168.1.xxx:32400/web (which shows local) but xbox/laptop/android/plex.tv/roku only ever connect as remote whilst on the same network (also 192.168.1.xxx)
Any suggestions?
Very likely either a DNS / ‘DNS rebinding protection’ issue.
ok thanks, that was the conclusion I was circling around. unfortunately my router is locked down around anything DNS related
Then you can either disable ‘secure connections’ in the server preferences or get a 3rd party router.
