All my libraries disappeared

Server Version#: Version 4.42.1
Player Version#:

Hi recently all of the libraries, photo, movie disappeared. I tried restoring the DB from backup and then repairing them, but they still don’t appear. What do I need to do to diagnose and fix the issue. Server is running on Windows 10 Pro 1909.

I have a Plex pass. I am not sure how to get support.

Fetch the logs, zip them up and drag them into the message editor of this forum.

Here’s the log. Note: I haven’t made any changes to the library, it just up and disappear one day.

Is it possible that you have more than one Windows user accounts on this computer?
And that you previously logged into a different user account when you set up Plex server?

Currently, your Plex server is looking in the user account spot for its data.
If it was originally set up under a different Windows user account, all the libraries woudl be stored under this user account.

Thank you!

That is indeed the case. For some reason, Plex started to run as spot instead of the other account.

I like to move Plex to its own account. That way I can limit access to the account to just the plex directory. What’s the proper way to move a library from one account to another?

Paul

  1. Shut down the server

  2. copy the whole Plex data folder from one user’s profile folder to the other.
(or: copy it onto its own dedicated partition or hard drive. Details here: [HowTo] An extended guide on how to move the Plex data folder on Windows )

  3. Save the registry branch from one user and import the .reg file while logged into the other.
