I just updated to the latest version of Plex on Windows 10 (1.13.9.5456). I went into Plex using the web browser as well as using the Plex app on Windows, and all my libraries are gone, as well as playlists.
Where are these kept on the computer? I back up the computer with ghost and can restore the whole Plex folder if needed. I had also marked all my music with 1-5 stars and made automatic playlists from those that I will need to restore. Thanks.
Are you using a separate Windows user account to work than to install software?
Log in and out of all Windows user accounts.
Then reboot Windows and then log only into your regular ‘work’ Windows user account.
The issue was probably to immediately start Plex Server after it executed the installer .exe, because this will then run under the Admin account and not under your own user account, where all the library data has been stored.
I did use a separate account for installing the update. I normally log in with just User rights and the upgrade failed if I tried with Runas and the administrator account. I then logged in as Administrator and did the upgrade, then immediately rebooted and logged in with my regular account. It sounds like it started itself under the other account that quickly, and I will work on fixing it later today. Thanks for the help.
