PMS running fine for years on a Shield 2015 16Mb + 256 Mb SD Card, accessing the media files over the network on 2 Synology Diskstations.
Hi Group,
So here we go. My PMS is divided into several libraries (6 for movies, 2 for music, 1 for series). The 2 libraries dedicated to music are mp3 and flac.
I recently added a subdirectory in my mp3 music library. I didn’t pay attention, my mistake, there was a ! in the directory name. Since then I can still access everything that existed at the time (except that ! folder), but from my Plex library I can no longer delete any entry, or add anything. If I add an entry (subdirectory) in any directory, no matter what NAS, no matter if it’s a movie, a series or music, and I run a library update, the update will not detect anything new. If I try to create a new library, the creation works fine, except PMS will then refuse to add any entry in it – although the proper folders / files are present.
If I delete the ! folder, that doesn’t change anything in the behavior of PMS…
If you cannot perform the check/repair on the Shield itself you might be able to temporarily install the PMS on a different machine and use its Plex SQLite executable to do the repair on the database files of your Shield.
Hi tom80H, thanks for your reply. I suspected the database might have been corrupted as well, as the Shield inadvertently rebooted just after adding my ! directory to it.
Considering the mighty conjunction between, on one hand the apparent hassle of the repair option, on the other hand the arrival of a major Shield OS update, I chose to just delete the server, then make a clean OS install on the Shield, then reinstall PMS and a recreate my library. I believe I saved time this way, it was just a couple hours.
