About 30 minutes ago every roku in my home running the plex client can no longer connect to my local plex server. Other clients (e.g. on my android phone, android TV, and windows PC are connecting fine locally). I see there there is a DNS issue going on right now globally with Plex but I would think that would be more likely to affect remote access than local access. Anyone else having a similar problem? My roku plex client have never had connection problems for years until today. NO recent changes to my server or the windows PC that runs it. Also tried restarting my home network equipment (router) and still no luck. Also tried the ‘manual connection’ route within roku plex clients by entering ip of my server manually, no luck…
UPDATE: I found entries in my plex server logs linked to the ip of one of my roku’s I was trying to debug this issue from. After the timestamp, the entry read: “DEBUG - Request: [192.168.0.XXX:YYYYY] rejected because secure connections are required” (i replaced some elements of the IP with XXX and YYYYY for the sake of this post out of paranoia). I saw this repeated over and over in the log file. I looked at my plex server settings and found that I had the setting ‘secure connections’ set to REQUIRED. I’ve had plex running this way since i set it up years ago. I changed it to ‘preferred’ and all of a sudden all the roku’s on my local network were connecting again. I would prefer to have this set to required. Does anyone have any idea why the roku’s on my local network seem to be unable to connect to my plex server using a secure connection? So strange as all other non-Roku devices on my home network do not have this issue.
