Hi, all,
I’ve been using Plex for about a year or more now and it’s been working well, until … TV shows! When I add a new series, it just shows everything under the first series I put on there (Firefly). I just added Fox’s “The Gifted” season 1, and it still only shows “Firefly”. When I open the “Firefly” series, I see a “2” count for each episode. Digging in, I find the “Firefly” link and the “Gifted” link, but I can’t break them apart. Add on top of that, even when I rebuild everything, it automagically wants to consider everything “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”, regardless whether I add “Firefly” first or “The Gifted”. I follow all the naming conventions of “series_name - sXXeYY - episode” and group them under their respective titles and seasons. I’m continuing to rip my DVDs, but I don’t want to add anything else until I can get it to work with just two series. Any help?
What does your library point to? What’s the path?
Example
As you can see, the ROOT is
D:\Shows.
So, from that, my folder structure in Windows looks like this.
D:\Shows\Firefly (2002)
D:\Shows\Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2000)
etc...
Since I have it on a NAS, I point to the share by way of IP:
\192.168.1.75\tvshows
From there, it’s:
TV shows
\Firefly (2002)
\Season 01
Firefly - s01e01-e02 - Serenity.mp4
Firefly - s01e03 - The Train Job.mp4
.
.
\The Gifted (2017)
\Season 01
The Gifted…and so on
I tried mapping to a drive, but Plex didn’t see it.
For a visual, here’s my TV Shows listing:
Clicking in, it shows the proper 15 episodes for Firefly, but it doesn’t show the 12 episodes for The Gifted. When I click on the (sadly) one season, I get this:
As you can see, there’s a “2” in the upper-left-hand corner of each of the displayed episodes (but not for episodes 13 through 15). When I pull up the info for each episode with two entries, I get something like this:
I just want each series to display its episodes and not some merging. I’m getting ready to upload a boatload of Doctor Who (my next ripping), but I don’t want to move them there until this is straightened out.
Just a way of background, I moved the folders out of the TV Shows folders, scanned the libraries, emptied the trash, then started moving the series back in one at a time. Exact same issue. Everything appears under the same series as the first one reloaded. Interestingly, both times I loaded the series (The Gifted, and then Firefly the second time I loaded from scratch). it seemed to think everything was Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Is that a default of some kind?
Cheers,
Mike R
Ahh… I see the issue.
\192.168.1.75\tvshows
The library ROOT should be
\192.168.1.75\tvshows\TV Shows
Let me give it a shot. My music and movies have their own paths as well:
\192.168.1.75\music
\192.168.1.250\movies
Cheers
That seems to have done it, kinda. I just moved the series folders up to the root of \192.168.1.75\tvshows, removed the library, emptied the trash, and then rebuilt the library. Taa-daa! Both series show up the way they’re supposed to.

Thanks, NewPlaza, I appreciate the sanity check.
Cheers, all,
Mike R
