Allow custom order on Home/Library rows/recommendations

Currently, all recommendations/rows for a pinned library have to come before the next set of recommendations/rows for the next pinned library. So, for example, all my movie rows have to come before all my TV shows.

It seems like there should be an option, and I’m not sure why there isn’t by now, where we could order rows in whatever order we wanting without regard to what library they are in. For example, I’d love to have recently released Movies, then recently aired TV show episodes, then newly added Movies, then newly added TV shows on my home screen. But that’s not possible right now.

There’s already an existing suggestion discussing options to customize the home screen and hubs, e.g. mixing up hubs or giving users an option to even hide certain hubs specified by a server owner. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.

Give users more control over their hubs / compensate the removal of the manually managed Home screen

Right now only the admin (server owner) can set recommended hubs and pin collections. He has 3 options: for his Home screen, for everyone else’s Home screen, and for everyone’s Library page. From years of using Plex, I’ve discovered that I cannot both efficiently manage the server as an admin while also using it as a user for watching via the same account. As an admin, I have to see every library I have access to, to promptly fix matches and see if there’s something wrong with the episode mappi…

Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.

Thank you for the suggestion, but that’s not what I’m talking about. That seems to generally be talking about customs recommendations on a per user basis.

I want to be able to customize the Home screen row order individually and without respect to what library it is on the Home screen. So, a completely different issue.

Right now, Plex groups Home recommendation rows by what library it’s in (and then depending on the pinned order it is on the sidebar for that device). So, all my TV Show library rows have to show up grouped together and all either before my Movie library rows. What I’m requesting is to be able to order rows individually, with zero regard for what library they’re in or the order of that library’s pinning.

So, right now, the only way to order my Home recommendation rows is like this, with brackets representing the start and end of the groups:

• [Recently Added Movies
• Recently Released Movies
• Movies Library Playlists]
• [Recently Added TV Shows
• Recently Released TV Show Episodes
• TV Shows Library Playlists]

What I want to be able to do is order the Home Screen in the following way, which is much more intuitive and which one cannot do under the current ordering system:

• Recently Added Movies
• Recently Added TV Shows
• Recently Released Movies
• Recently Released TV Show Episodes
• Movies Library Playlists
• TV Shows Library Playlists

If an admin enables 5 recommended hubs (like top-rated, by genre, etc.) for some library that you had pinned, you’ll see every one of them on the Home screen, whether you need it or not. You’ll have to scroll through all of them to see anything from the next pinned library. You will basically have N-hubs-blocks for every library on your Home screen, that can’t be edited, reordered or mixed with hubs from another library. You’ll just be stuck with that, the only thing you can do is reorder the libraries and no more than that (besides removing them completely).
