Home Re-Ordering

I see the sort-title, but this behaviour is inconsistent with the side-bar ordering functionality and this should be consistent across all section ordering where practical.

My recommendation is to add a three-dot menu after the > in each section and add access to the specific configuration options available for that section, including but not limited to Reorder, Pin/Unpin, and Grant Access to other users.

I’m not clear what you are asking for. Not sure what the sort-title of media has to do with the home screen but maybe you mean some other title.

Are you asking about the order of libraries listed in the sidebar?
The order only applies to the pinned libraries – once you enter the More > section, all libraries are listed alphabetically.

Could you maybe point out what you’re referring with a screenshot? I’m also a bit puzzled… the different parts of your suggestion don’t seem to add up – but that’s probably simply because we’re missing some aspect that’s otherwise clear to you

No, I am suggesting that ordering of the items on the home screen also be modifiable on a per-user basis in the same manner as the left navigation bar is. So you could re-order ‘Recently Added’ etc using the same three button menu metaphor the rest of the UI also uses for this kind of customization; consistency.

We used to do that but it not really feasible as that is saved in the client and weird things happen when folks get overly complex and the client device looses memory, of the server and thing eventually get out of whack. Server admins also expressed interest in adding the rows they want the users they gave library access to see which is done based on collections that can change arbitrarily whenever the server admin wants… That is why it is controlled by the server admin not the client.

This is also the same as this suggestion which i don’t think will ever happen but you should vote on that one to not split votes.

Even if it was only re-ordering options that would be enough from a user choice pov.

Also not at all the same, nothing to do with libraries.

But they currently do. I understand you want that association removed so you can order the rows however you want on the client. I’m telling you that we used to do that and it likely won’t ever happen again due the the reasons I already mentioned.

Each library has a group set of rows associated with it. The row group order is set per library and is controlled by the server not the client. Info on how that is done can be found here. https://support.plex.tv/articles/manage-recommendations/

They currently do… but this is a suggestion to change that behavior

That being said… there’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to customize the home screen hubs individually by each user. If that’s what you’re asking for, please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.

thanks @tom80H I had the wrong suggestion link. I understand they are asking to change the behavior. I’m saying we used to have that behavior and it does not work in the real world due the the reasons I mentioned and why we are not likely to ever have it do that again.
