I want complete control over the content that’s displayed in Home. Id like to create an experience like netflix, hulu, etc. Browsing would be much easier for users who didn’t build the library. by browsing, i mean opening up plex without knowing what you want to watch yet. Here’s what would help
-Being able to order/mix tv and movie recommendations in any way I want, instead of having to scroll through every movie recommendation row to get to TV at the bottom.
-MULTIPLE auto generated recommendation rows by actor, director, studio, genre, etc that can either statically or dynamically appear with static or dynamic orders on Home. With control over how many instances of each type of category appear on and control over the order they’re listed. Maybe I want The MCU and Breaking bad universe to always be the first 2 rows oh Home, with everything under that dynamically ordered.
-custom rows and control over what movie or show goes into each row, with the option to auto generate rows and manually add or take off any movie in an auto generated row.
100% fine with keeping movies and TV in seperate categories but PLEASE let me order those categories any way I WANT.
not interested in browsing my content through the already built in library, collections, or categories. They’re too disconnected, don’t have enough control, and always present your content in the same EXACT order, which becomes uninspiring when BROWSING for new content. I want to build my own catalogue in HOME!
i have no idea if some of this stuff is impossible or something i’m just a plex pass subscriber who wants to see the service continue to improve!
Thanks for your suggestion. There’s already an expansion thread discussing more customization options for the Home Screen for both the server owner and other users. Please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
My post seems to put more emphasis on naming actual features id like implemented and specifically focuses on improving the aspects of the “browsing” experience
from Home. Seems like that post is mostly criticizing/describing the way Home works now. While mine criticizes home for slightly different reasons, and like I said, before actually recommends features. Also, it seems suppressive to silence a new post in hopes of promoting a two year old post with 30 upvotes on it. my post is worded did pretty well. And has some important distinctions from the one you’re referencing.
Often feature requests, if implemented, will not be done the exact manner as described. due to various reasons.
There are only suggesting it it because thought they were similar enough and discussion can be made to suggest tweaks to the idea in other topic. Again only to not split votes among things that seem to be the similar.
It wasn’t just closed because they wanted to to make sure you agree with that or if they may be missing something ( which you pointed out what they were missing the point so thank you for clarification. They have no stake in whether or not either is implemented.
