Allow developers to contribute to Plex

There are a lot of feature requests that have long been open with thousands of votes that Plex hasn’t been able to get to. Since a large part of the Plex user base is made up of passionate coders and tinkerers, many of these would love contributing to Plex.

One way the Plex team could leverage the developer community is for the Plex team to write some test cases/scaffolding/etc. along with a brief description of what they need implemented. Submissions from folks in the community that pass the test cases can be used as a starting point by the Plex team for adaptation/integration into the codebase.

Obviously this approach won’t work with everything, but would work very well for cases where the interfaces can be well defined and the Plex team doesn’t have a lot of bandwidth. Plex would own the IPR of the submitted code obviously and will not require open-sourcing the rest of the code base.

If this works, would be a way for Plex team to cheaply/quickly get to implementing more great features in an already great product!
