Allow switching of Themes/Skins for Plex Media Player Desktop

I would like to see Plex Media Player for desktop allow users to choose between current Plex Themes from different platforms like iOS, Apple TV, Android, Roku etc and also allow user created themes and UI’s.

Plex Media Player would benefit from having a community of people who skin/theme to add diversity to Plex Media Player. The resources being used for OpenPHT could also be used to further user skins/themes for Plex Media Player once opened up (hopefully).

What do you think? Could we open up the skinning and theming community once again?

I 2nd this request. One thing I LOVED when using Kodi was skinning/building. Fully customizing a build for a friend or family member and making it theirs and stand out from the vanilla builds. I honestly believe Plex and the Plex community would go nuts over this feature.

Yeah I think the community would get behind skinning and theme switching for PMP very heavily. Plex Home Theatre had a dedicated community for skins and themes and still does actually. Would love to see that community/user tweakability come to PMP. What do you say DEVS?

Yes plz! the native skin is very limited, close to children level =/

You all need to use the “Vote” button near the top of the first post, on the left. Votes count, comments do not.

I like the idea, especially since PMP doesn’t have any UI scaling options. I would love to use PMP with slightly smaller UI elements on my monitor. Don’t really need 10ft UI when I’m sitting right in front of my monitor and customization/reskinning can be used to solve this for me.

don’t forget to vote on the top left if you haven’t :sunglasses:

We need Themes!!!

Don’t forget to vote ppl!

Absolutely bang on. It would be one of the most well received facilities and be immersive for users.

A hyperspin style theme for PLEX would be soooo sweet…
Look up Hyperspin on youtube if you don’t know what im talking about.

Ladies and Gentlemen, download the userstyles chrome extension to theme plex web from your browser. I believe there’s also a firefox extension as well.
Haven’t found anything for the Plex app as of yet.

Not the solution.

Yes please. We really need customization. I love Plex I really do, and if this is one of the most frustrating things, then your doing alright.

With that said though. This really is an area that Plex is behind in. Plex vs Kodi = Plex is far superior in almost every way, but this is one of the things that I think Kodi gets right. I see this request has been around since 2019…Please Plex, Listen to the users on this one.

Yeah I said it before and i say it again. If Plex had skins like Kodi. Plex would be the holy grail of Media Players. I would pay for it even.

Paying user here. I would love to see a few skin options for Plex as well please.
Right now, I think the UI is really outdated and Plex should look into something new.

It’s crazy how long this app has been around without implementing any kind of theme choices, or custom theme engine, This would definitely be a big value added feature. It’s honestly the one reason it took me so long to switch to Plex. I love the beautiful, and sleek themes of apps like Kodi.

I’d just settle for a way to change the font size and/or thumbnail size. Tired of squinting to read titles. And people have been begging for this for YEARS.

Thinking about canceling my recurring account payments. It’s that bad. Some TVs are worse than others though. This impacts two of them.

I thought it’s worth mentioning this is now possible to some degree with Plex HTPC (the to-be successor of Plex Media Player), e.g.

  • Settings > Appearance
    • Content Layout
    • Theme
