Part of the reason I wanted to create a Plex server is to be able to allow my mother-in-law to download photos of the kids without having to send her full-sized photos. Is there anyway to do this through the managed user feature?
No, unfortunately only the owner at this time is able to download from the libaries. I would say personally that I agree with this (at least for photos), hopefully it’s something that gets added at some point.
Early 2021 clean-up:
- download from shared libraries → duplicate (though this thread is significantly older)
Privileges to download from share server - download shared photos → duplicate
