Allowing remote friends to access my PLEX library

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
Player Version#: 4.116.1

Hi,
I know this is a dumb question. I use PLEX and have PLEX PASS. I have turned on remote access and can remotely watch PLEX when not at home.

However, I have a friend who I wish to share some of my plex library with (Movies and TV Shows) but can’t remember how to do it

Can someone point me to the instructions where I can refresh my memory. I think I did this ages ago and they had to:

  1. Set up a fresh account from plex.tv
  2. I then invited them from PLEX but cannot remember how to

Many thanks

TK

I tend to not have them set up their account first. It’s just as easy to send them an invite from this page:

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/friends

Click ‘Grant Library Access’ in the upper right, and then punch in their email address. When it appears (or their user appears if they happen to already have an account) choose them and go through the prompts.

If they don’t already have an account, they will get an onboarding email to sign up for Plex, which takes care of that step for you.

Big key is after they go through the process, you have to walk them through accessing your server with the libraries you shared with them, since without guidance they will likely NEVER see your server content, and only think Plex is a free streaming service for the content Plex offers, because of the way they have designed the onboarding experience.
