Does anyone know an alternative. Apparently they have started to completely mess with TV shows in which a single episode us comprised of two 15 min shorts which are always paired together. So if originally a show had 15 episodes in a season, it now has 30, which for those of us who have correctly recorded and saved files, our Plex TV DB is totally messed up. Real bummer. This is unbelievably depressing…

Reading that thread make the admins on TVDB come off as complete assholes. Is Freebase a viable option?
The issue is specific to multi-story shows likes kids cartoons that get aired in sets of 2 or 3 and then broken up when put on DVD… TVDB has its own numbering as well as DVD numbering that supports decimals.
One solution posted was that XBMC is aware of this and if the episodes are numbered in DVD order 1.1 1.2 1.3 etc XBMC will combine them.

The issue here is which order is more important the AIR order and number or the DVD order? It isn’t cut and dry.
