Am I thick or just unluck Plex Embedded Linux

I have a laptop decent spec i7-4600u/12GB/120GB SSD…the screen it broken and cant find a replacement (thats not below £500)…so i thought it has HDMI out it will make a really nice plex player. Am I wrong?

so i downloads the plex embedded it would not load blank, didnt do anything. is that right? does it include the linux bootable OS on it or is it just a linux app to install? I have installed linux 18.04LTS working a treat, put kodi on and added the plex addon and it works a treat…but it was and is long winded…was thinking must be an easier way??? thanks in advance all ideas welcome…

PS the laptops is thinner than a macbook air if your wondering why use it too…

Embedded is the PMP built on libreELEC which is a lightweight Linux distribution meant for embedded devices like Raspberry Pi, not for laptops. You would have to run PMP on normal OS as an application, however there are currently no official builds for linux.

You should take a look at Plex Media Player packages for Linux for community builds.
