Amazing Stories 2020 Metadata is from 1984 version of show

I have had to manually add the metadata from all of these shows because the data that pops in is from the original version of the show. My naming convention is correct and includes the date and show title but the old info is what comes up in Plex. I’m wondering how to ask someone to update the database to include the new Apple+ TV series as well.

The posters show scenes from the old shows. I have had to manually add the new posters as well:

Just added these - instant match and fully populated:

I suggest you pull that show from the library
scan the library
empty the trash
clean bundles
Fix the names and structures
Put the show back in the library
and see it all work as expected. <—we hope.

Nope.

Note how @JuiceWSA has things named. Year in parentheses, dashes, spaces, etc are all very important.

Plex is very picky with TV show naming and structure. Best to follow the guidelines to the letter.

I will do that! Thank you!!!

It worked! Thank you so much. I’ll be more careful in the future!

All that is needed is brackets on the year in the folder name, don’t need subfolder for individual seasons or dashes or brackets on year in filenames.

Let’s not push it too hard.
If you stick with the actual proposed naming schema, this is a better bet for it to keep working. I wouldn’t bet on your naming / structuring approach – at least not with everybody who’s watching sitting at home and having nothing/not much else to do

You’ve first hand experience with what happens if you do not follow the guidelines. It works until it doesn’t, then you open a thread with:

Except it is not.

The forum is full of similar posts, especially for TV shows, with which Plex is particularly picky.

As @tom80H writes, best not to push it. When adding TV shows to Plex, take five minutes to create season subfolders and name things correctly. It will save you from frustration later on.

Here’s a post with info on how Plex matches things. It uses a movie as an example. However, it shows why it is a good thing to put the year in parentheses, extraneous info in square brackets, etc.

Yes. All I had to do was add the brackets to the year and it straightened itself out.

You have now found a little gem, naming Plex files correctly will keep everyone sane. Lol :upside_down_face:
