Hi, so where has the plex alexa skill gone, cant see it in the UK, was just disabling it to reset it as it stopped working but now I cant find it at all. When I search for ALEXA PLEX skill, I cant find it on amazon web site but it shows not available in the UK.. whats going on?
Same in Germany. Tried to reconnect the skill, It failed. Now the skill is no longer available.
infuriating, paid for a license and they are gradually enshitifying it but doing no useful dev at all.
I am told “plex hasnt bothered to update the skill for years”, the api it runs on is deprecated which is probably why is started off being unreliable, then barely usable, then gone altogether, PLEX devs are the worst thing about PLEX, the literally fcck all thats actually useful to the users who pay for it. I could name several simple changes they could do right off the bat which would massively improve PLEX and make more desirable, adding an entire folder to a playlist with a simple right click would be one of them… fixing the skill, adding even a basic EQ, allow full folder browsing and be able to lock it in place and remembered, show playlists in android auto, not just those you’ve already played, i could go on…. LTT have covered a load more issues and wont allow any advertising from them until they start fixing stuff.
Precisely! The devs make changes that creates problems and angers the customer base. Then they have the balls to tell us that the changes are permanent.
The Alexa Plex skill is a market leader and they decide to pull it. Ok so I have Alexa speakers and Sonos speakers and all work very well when I ask alexa to play something through plex. This will stop so what similar alternatives are there that actually work. There must be a massive demand to voice activate your music to play on your speakers(including Sonos) but I can’t get any of them work properly on Sonos. Anyone got something that just works?
if you are using PLEX, none, it can be done now, they have essentially crippled their own product by being lazy, too busy filling their app full of sh!te, who cares about those users who already bought a lifetime license…
I hear you but there must be loads of Plex users looking for alternatives. I just hoped someone had found something that actually works. I’ve looked at ibroardcast and myMedia for Alexa they both stumble playing on Sonos.
I’m having the same problem I can’t find anything either I wanted it mainly for Android Auto though it never worked fantastically well on there but it just stopped working altogether now But it was also working fine with all of my Alexa Echoes all around the house So they will essentially become bricks now.
if you only have alexa speakers you have options. I think MyMedia is best technical design. It send files from you server directly to Alexa devices. It works. If you want SONOS speakers to work that’s when it all look black. I don’t believe the Alexa/plex interface wasn’t been used enough for a second. It’s best in its field. Why give up market leadership???. Hell I would pay yearly to keep it working.
