So I have a stereo Echo, and I have Plex… and now I’m trying out PlexAmp…
But the three can’t work together ?
If I start music on my iPhone on PlexAmp, I can’t switch it over to the Echos using the PlexAmp plus.
I can do that in Spotify for a near-seamless experience.
My Alexa account has the Plex skill added, and yes I can voice control Plex through the speakers using voice control - but I can’t make the app switch from the iphone to the speakers.
First, Elan… THANK YOU for Plex. It’s absolutely incredible. I’ve been a fan and subscriber for years.
On this question, I wish I could use your beautiful PlexAmp app on my phone to output to an Echo device - or even better, output to a multi-speaker group of Echo devices. It works in Spotify, but I want to do it from PlexAmp because that’s where I have my collection of live music (audience recordings from Grateful Dead etc.) Is that part of what you meant by “things Plex wishes it could do” - is Spotify’s ability dependent on their special relationship with Amazon? Is there anything that can be done to get Plex on equal footing in terms of this capability? Thank you for taking the time to chat with us about this!
If its possible for Spotify to do that - then what stops PLEX from having the same conversation with Amazon ?
I’ve been trying again today to use the voice control from Alexa -> PLEX and still getting frustrated even with basics “Eg Play Music vs Play Some Music”, when the former fails once your inside the PLEX skill but the latter succeeds.
So that’s why I wanted to start music from one device and flip it to another.
Spotify is a 1st party provider. i.e. they are sponsoring (paying) Amazon to be listed as a music provider for Alexa. This gives them access to special features others do not have access to. Plex is not a big enough fish to swim in that pond.
