Amazon Fire Stick Not Working For Added Shared User

Hi there,

I have recently signed up for a PLEX lifetime subscription and had my media loaded onto an old Buffalo LinkStation NAS connected to a mini PC.

Whilst at my parents over the Christmas period, I added them as a shared remote user and was able to access my media via their Amazon Firestick. It worked pretty well, but occasionally buffered. However, I was so pleased with the remote feature, I decided to upgrade the NAS to a Synology 220+ with 6Gb of RAM, and use it as my PLEX server, and get rid of the mini PC.

I transferred the media across to the Synology NAS and have now returned to my parents for a visit. I tried to use the Firestick again, but now I can’t access my media on it.
I made sure that in my PLEX settings, I added the folders to be shareable on the new NAS drive to my parents shared user account, however I can stream the PLEX media on the Synology NAS via my laptop perfectly.

I wonder if there was something obvious I’ve not done? I’m thinking it might be more of an issue with me not setting up the Synology properly?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Ian

Have you checked if the newly shared libraries are currently only listed under More in the Plex app’s sidebar for them?

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply. There is no option for ‘MORE’ for some reason. Also, I don’t know if it makes a difference, I’ve just realised it’s actually a Gen 2 Fire TV, not a Firestick.
All the folders are showing, but just aren’t showing anything.

Also, what I have done, is added PLEX to a brand new Firestick purchased for a TV in another room.

Interestingly, ‘MORE’ is not showing on that one either, but neither are the library folders I added from my account which are buffering on the Fire TV. The only content showing is the PLEX streamed Movies, TV etc.

Thanks
Ian
