Amazon Fire with FreeTime won't show Plex in kids' profile

Plex has been installed on both of my kids’ tablets (purchased last x-mas). I set it up on the main profile, and then shared it to each of the kids’ FreeTime profiles. It worked.

I don’t know when it happened, but today I tried to share some other apps, and noticed that despite being checked as shared, the Plex app is totally missing from both FT profiles.

I started a chat session with AZ CSR, and they said that Plex is probably not sharable - and that while it may have been at one point, it may not be any longer. Can that be?

Wouldn’t that be like Toyota deciding, after the fact, to replace my v8 with a 3 cylinder?

I haven’t used the FreeTime feature, but Plex has never worked well with it.

Can you explain how/what you “shared”?

Well, after spending nearly the rest of the day chatting with Amazon’s support people, we finally got one of the tablets working 100% - both in the main profile, as well as the kids profiles in FreeTIme. So at least I know it’s possible. It did involve them completely deleting and removing the kids’ profiles.

However, one of the two just wouldn’t play nice. So, they gave up, and they are sending me a replacement tablet. Oh well.

I was hoping this was a one-off issue. I’ve seen the number of other FreeTime complaints here regarding Plex issues. I suppose this is what happens when you dance with the Devil. I was never a fan of the near-complete control Amazon has over its products. Same with iFruit products. But, in this case, I’m too tech-illiterate to manage my kids’ tablet habits, and I took the lazy man’s approach…
