Hello,
I have a question about HW accelerated transcoding with AMD G-series CPUs (that ones with RX vega 11 GPU). Does PLEX Media Server support HW transcoding with this CPU through integrated GPU? Sorry if its dumb question but I cant find it if its support HW accelerated video and even with PLEX.
I have most of my library encoded with h.265 codec so sometimes I need transcoding to unsuported devices so I wonder if that AMD APU can handle it with its GPU so it will be faster and can hadle multiple transcode stream at once without issues.
I especially thinking about new Ryzen 5 3400G. Does it even woth it for PLEX or its bad choice? Does anyone have experience with this kind of APU?
Hi there, I am looking at creating a Mini ITX Plex server and have been looking into using either the Ryzen 3 3200G or Ryzen 5 3400G as the APU.
I came across this thread on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/ahhlmv/ryzen_5_2400g_server_success/) where a user had successfully setup a Plex server with the Ryzen 5 2400G and was able to achieve several simultaneous transcodes (4 * 1080p H264 to 720p H264 & 2 * 1080p H264 to SD H264).
This means the 3200G & 3400G should be capable of hardware accelerated transcoding using the Vega 11 graphics.
However I cannot confirm this 100% as I have not tried myself yet
