An error has occurred, please try again later

Hello,

Ever since I’ve set it up I’m getting “An error has occurred, please try again later” when trying to watch ABC. If I try NBC it tunes right away. HD HomeRun app works every time. I even uninstalled PMS from Ubuntu but still no joy.
Here’s video of what’s going on https://photos.app.goo.gl/gtNTwbywRZn8UEn99
Ubuntu Server Version#: 1.13.5.5332
Nvidia Shield Player Version#: 7.4.0.6424

I’m having the same problem except it happens on every channel. I’m on Nvidia shield, hd homerun Quattro, windows plex server and synology play plex server. I have no problem tuning from the hd homerun app but I have constant issues with plex not tuning to ota channels. If I keep trying different channels, switching plex servers, it will eventually tune but it is a head ache. This has been going on sinve I started using plex in April.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Same here, HDHomeRun app on Nvidia opens every channel almost instantly so its defiantly issues with PMS because even with different setup in your case issue remains the same.
I wish Plex developers would chime in here because we pay for the service but don’t get working Plex in return.

Doing a search, I’ve found numerous posts from people with this exact problem dating back to almost a year ago. Not a single thread has a response from a plex employee in it. They either have no idea how to fix this, know that they can’t fix the problem, have decided not to fix the issue for now based on other (economic?) Issues, or their customer service is non-existent. I haven’t decided yet. I’m really debating if I should purchase the dvr with hd homerun and let my plex pass sub lapse. I don’t like their interface but it is at least stable.

I also have this issue frequently. I have a windows plex server, hd homerun Quattro and nvidia sheild. It’s really intermittent and comes and goes all the time. It means I can’t use plex for live tv so revert to Kodi most of the time.

Guys,
Find your HDHomeRun IP and using your computer browser open it. I had an update waiting to be installed. See if it makes any difference regarding this issue!

I have the same setup as philstowell… the same frustrating issue too. Trying to tuner a channel with 50% of time result in this error…
PLEX… are you listening / reading ?

Same error today when trying to tune to CBS (other channels work fine) with the HD Homerun Connect Quatro. Tried deleting cache and force stopping the app to no avail. HD homerun app works fine on same playback devices (note 9, nvidia shield). Plex server (running on wd pr2100) might be one version behind but the plex media app (for nvidia shield and note 9) and hdhomerun firmware are fully updated for sure.

Is it possible that regional content differences for a specific channel are causing a conflict when tuning to some channels? Purely a shot in the dark, but looking for a cause that would explain sporadic error on specific channels and not others.

Plex… I can’t fully express how frustrating and time consuming your product has been over the years. CONSTANT battles with errors and crashes while you keep spending developer time on an ever expanding feature set. GET. SOMETHING. RIGHT. You will never go mainstream when you are this unstable. I’m like the millionth customer making this plea.

I’m having the same issue tuning NBC on nvidia shield. It’s works fine in the hdhomerun app. Also, it fails to record on NBC randomly.

Guys,

I think this issue got fixed after 11/26/2018 update to v7.8.0 all my channels that I had issues are now playing smoothly with different qualities which before was not even possible with some of the lowest ones.

Good job Plex, chiming in here and admit to having issues and working on it would be nice but I guess you don’t roll like that!
