I’m using a an HD Homerun Connect just purchased two weeks ago. Any ideas?
I am having similar issues with a new hdhomerun quattro.
Currently using the Plex LiveView app on roku and it is giving issues. The web browser interface is also failing. It worked before I upgraded to 1.9.5.4339.
I am having that issue too. Power cycling the hdhomerun does not fix it for me. I had to exit plex media server and kill any remaining processes and then start plex again and it works. Seems like it’s not releasing the tuners when you change channels but haven’t been able to verify that.
I am also having this issue. Doesn’t seem like there’s been a resolution yet. Using a DUAL and EXTEND
Having this issue too with the HDHomerun quatro i just bought for my OTA antenna. If i come back later, it seems to clear out and work again. But once i get one error, usually after starting a few more streams, all channels give an error.
I tried to tune the channel erroring from the plex server, same error, so its got to be something in the communication between the two as the HDHomeRun quatro web interface shows no issues.
I’m going to chime in here, I am getting this error on an old school HD Home Run Dual. The other part of the issue I’m seeing that i think is related is that if I leave a TV channel open for a while (10, 15 minutes) it drops out of “now playing” despite continuing to play. It appears plex is losing track of the tuners (to put it in dummy terms as that is what I am to these items).
Further, I noted that now that I have this problem plex is reporting the following on my DVR Page:
2 tuners, 3 recording… I’ve not asked plex to record any TV yet, just view live.
This looks like a possible result from the bug discussed in this thread: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/292570/bug-plex-livetv-not-releasing-tuners-for-hdhomerun-prime#latest ?
I am having this problem as well with the Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD tuner. It seems to be intermittent. If I try over and over, it eventually connects to the station. I have verified my signal strength which is good. This is a relatively new problem. I have tried removing and reinstalling these tuners from plex and windows where my server is running. I am running plex version 1.9.6.4385 .

Is there any solution? After update the server to newest beta, i cannot play any channel.
My playback and tuner claiming/releasing has improved significantly in later releases (1.9.7+) - I Have not seen it erroneously claim tuners in use when they are not. I have seen it say “device not found” which was a first though it did not seem to impact live or recorded TV.

I have the same error. Status displays multiple instances of “Recording Live TV - Session”, even though I am not recording and haven’t even chosen a directory to store any recordings.
I’m having the same issue. Using HDHomerun Prime. On the HDHomerun screen it shows all tuners free. However, I can’t watch anything using Plex Live until I reset plex media server.
Resetting the HDHomerun prime box doesn’t work. VERY ANNOYING!
I’ve tried using the iOS app, windows web browser, Firetv… Nothing can tune, once it starts happening.
What I do to replicate it, open my firetv Plex app, go into a show. Exit… Go into another. I do this three times, and it tunes the shows. However, the fourth time I enter a channel, it can not tune. My hdhomerun only has three tuners. If I check my hdhomerun, it shows the tuner being used, and released (once plex exits out of the channel I’m watching).
So something is odd, and annoying. Hope they fix it soon, otherwise I’ll just have to buy the hdhomerun DVR service.
I am having the same problem with running PMS on a DS918+ Synology NAS with two HDHOMERUN PRIMES and two NVIDIA Shields. I am able to watch live TV on the NVIDIA Shield devices but I am unable to record. If I try to hit record, I get the “Playback Error Unable to tune channel (Timed out)” and I will no longer be able to watch live TV. If I stop the PMS server than it all goes to ■■■■ and I will be unable to restart the PMS without restarting the entire NAS. I switched to SD’s app (which works flawlessly) and I am patiently waiting for a fix. This is very frustrating.
My problem has been fixed! WOOHOO! The recent update resolved it for me. Such a simple issue, that caused me so much pain. I was about to buy the HDHomerun DVR server… Saved me $35 by fixing this bug.

I’m crossing my fingers but so far so good on my end also. I already purchased HDHOMERUN DVR. My wife seems to prefer their app for some reason. That is going to make things difficult.

I’ve become braver, and can go in and out of live shows over a dozen times (different channels) and it still tunes. I’m hoping the Plex folks add a few more options, but I’m about ready to at least cable “shave”. I’m a little too far out for easy OTA channels (45+ miles and don’t want an external antenna visible).

Odd thing is that my hdhomerun shows one tuner in use (plex recording scheduled show). Still don’t see other two tuners being used.
Waited for plex to come up to a place where a new channel would be recorded (different show starting)… Yeah plex has no problem tuning a channel for a scheduled recording, but I can’t tune a channel locally through a browser (plex), firetv, or phone… Interesting how plex (scheduled recording) can tune, but I can’t…

I came home from work this afternoon and none of my afternoon shows had been recorded. I have two HD Homerun primes (6 tuners) and it still failed. Also, when a program is record successfully, it says “recorded successfully”, however, when it fails, it does not say anything. The only thing I can think of that is causing the problem is that I am also using Silicon Dust’s recorder program to record shows. It was recording two shows when Plex failed to record. I would use plex solely if it worked reliably. My wife will not be happy if she misses a show! This is really irritating.
Same kind of issue. Started yesterday, channel kept recording for hours after shows end, then wasn’t able to watch any live channels. “unable to tune channel” on most of my devices. Don’t even have the option to view on main server computer, only record channels. Also got no grab operation returned. Tried ipad, phone, laptop, desktop, none working. Able to view and record on WMC so it doesn’t seem to be a problem with my HDhomerun Prime.
