So I purchased my Plex Pass to be able to stream my content to my ps3 with all the lovely features that come with Plex. I set the whole thing up and everything seemed to work perfectly. Watched a few movies and whatnot, then decided to go into my TV Shows folder. It came up with the 'loading' until it eventually came up with 'An error has occurred'. I can physically access the TV shows if I look in 'most recent' or anything such as that. I have read somewhere that there is a timeout of 10 seconds or something of the sort, is there a way to resolve this otherwise it pretty much removes the whole purpose of my getting Plex in the first place :l
This sounds very similar to: https://forums.plex.tv/topic/142098-cant-enter-movie-libraries-on-ps4/
I have no idea why this is happening for you. Will look into it.
I have the exact same problem. Movies works fine, TV Shows - I cannot go into the folder. I can (and have) watched shows from the main dashboard that are recently added etc.
Everything WORKED when I set it up, and now it's stopped :(
I hope I haven't purchased a Plex Pass for nothing. Please help!!
I created a new topic with some more information, but I thought I'd post it here as well in case anyone is looking into this:
I've uninstalled Plex on the PS4 and PC. Reinstalled on both. Restarted everything, restarted the router. Tried different connections (WLAN and LAN). I've deleted everything from the TV folder on Plex and started over. I've removed a huge number of shows to keep the number of files down. My Movies folder works fine. TV used to work, but suddenly stopped.
I took the directories that had files that had been changed/added between when the folder loaded on the PS4 and when it stopped and moved them to a new folder on the PC and a new Folder on Plex, "Television 2". I went into "Television" after moving these files and it WORKED! Happy days! Then I went into "Television 2" and it also worked! The problem must be the size of the directories, right? Wrong.... after "Television 2" worked, "Television" gave me the same error as before.
Now I'm able to watch the shows in one folder, but still unable to access the second folder.
Any thoughts?
I too am seeing this error on my PS3. Is there anything I can do to help debug the problem?
This is a real headscratcher. I've looked into how much data we request/download from PMS when the library is huge. Nothing stood out there. You can try looking in the PMS logs for clues yet I don't think that's the problem.
I'll setup a server with an obscene number of television shows and episodes. I'll post back with test results and metrics for the number of shows/episodes. You all have any suggestions where to start for number of TV shows/seasons/episodes?
Thank you, mseeley.
I have 23,116 files equalling to 1.73 TB in one folder, and 1,967 files equalling 183 GB in the other folder.
Hope that helps to re-create the issue.
I'm having the same issue on ps3 and I also have a somewhat bigger library.
I've run some additional test and have found that this is definitely related to the amount of files / data added within plex. I did a complete reinstall of plex (purging the /var/lib/plexmediacenter completely and starting off from scratch. After adding section 2 and 3 above everything was still in working order and i could use plex on the ps3 where after I added section 1 above and this got processed just over half way through where after I was no longer able to use plex app on my ps3.
