I've got a couple issues going on related to the PS3.
1) Is anyone else having difficulty getting the new plex channel to work? I've logged into PS3, installed the channel, logged into plex online and added the pin. I then get "An error Occurred" with 3 options to "try Again" "Go Home" or "Sign Out". I've tried them all on 2 different PS3's to no avail.
I was hoping this channel would work for me because...
2) I can no longer open up my plex movies folder through the PS3. It tries for 30-40 seconds and then I get a DLNA protocol error 2006 and the folder eventually says "there are no titles". This has been going on for a month or so.
The PMS is running on a Synology DS1513+ NAS. If it helps at all I've attached the media server log.
Hi phatjd101. I can help you on #1 but I know nothing about #2.
The log has a lot of chatter. Would you mind shutting down PMS, starting it back up, then trying the new Plex PS3 app right away? It'll avoid iPhone and DLNA chatter. The latter especially makes #1 hard to get any read on.
You'll see that error after you've signed in successfully but we were unable to load the library metadata from your PMS. The error message is totally not helpful and absolutely on my needs improvement list.
Thanks mseeley. I did stop and start the PMS but got the same error message as stated above. Any other thoughts on getting the channel running?
I'm running Version 09.11.7 which I think is up to date.
I'm assuming that having a lot of chatter isn't a good thing for performance? I'm noticing a few other folders are taking longer to open than before. Is there a size limit where you would notice this type of behavior?
For instance I had ~250 GB of mp3's in the music folder that was taking several minutes to populate in iOS. I split that into 2 folders (A-L and M-Z) which is a little quicker to populate but I'd prefer to have it in the one folder.
I am haveing the same server error plex on ps3 error sorry there appears to be a problem connecting anny ides to fix this i tried through the proxy server as well
@phatjd101 have you managed to figure out what's going on? Thought of something to reduce log chatter, perhaps disabling DLNA temporarily would be useful. Not absolutely sure but a guess.
I tried disabling the media servers and it didn't change anything. I got the same error message as before. I was just grasping at straws but I also tried running network cable to the PS3 instead of using the wireless connection. I got the same error message and I was still unable to open the Plex movie folder. Not sure what else I can do on my end. This worked fine around a month ago and I'm wondering if there was a PS3 or Plex Server update that is causing this.
Does anyone know if there is a formal technical support for plex and what their contact info is? It's really inconvenient to have no access to my movies on the PS3.
We found/fixed an error in the last couple weeks where two TV libraries on a server would lead to problems loading either TV library. The most recent version of PMS fixes this.
Besides that problem I haven't hit any snags while browsing some huge TV and Movie libraries on PS4 or less capable devices. I think we're okay but will keep an eye out.
Ps3 app keeps resetting and askng for pin every few days. Anyone know why this is happening. This is only happing on my ps3, and not my ps4. please help!!!
