An error occurred on play next since 8.12 on FireTV

Server Version#: 1.22.2.4282
Player Version# 8.16.0.24021 Beta

I’m including a server and client log. I know this has been reported before but there are so many error reports at this point I’m starting fresh. Play next produces the error but playing the video works fine. This is extremely annoying and I’m tired of upgrading hoping it’s fixed just to have to downgrade again. I’ll provide whatever info and help I can to get this resolved.

Thanks!

By “Play next” you mean using the play button on a partially watched show preplay?

It’s actually the auto play next. So when one episode of a TV show ends you get the 10 second timer. Once the timer is up you get the error. If you exit out of the error you can then select the episode manually and it plays fine.

Thanks!

Can you let me know the Fire TV device you are using? There looks to be an initialisation error on the audio codec, sadly that’s quite tricky to solve unless we can replicate it ourselves.

If you are able to share a sample video as well that would be a huge help.

Just bumping this. Anything else I can provide?

Thanks!

I have a fire tv 3rd generation Fire TV and I don’t get an error but if the 10 second countdown starts and i back up one screen where it shows the episodes, (The screen where you can choose resume, play from start, mark as played, or more). it doesn’t count the last episode as watched.even though I let it play all the way to the end and the 10 second countdown started. If you hit play it doesn’t play the next episode it replays the episode of the one you just watched

As I’m sure you know the way some shows start it gives you a recap of the last episode or last couple episodes, it’s hard to tell it’s the old show and end up watching it all over again.

I have to mark that episode as watched manually then back out all the way to the home screen, wait for the continue watching aka on deck to register it and then select the new episode.

Also If you stop an episode in the middle and go back one screen, it doesn’t show the little yellow line under the thumbnail indicating the show is partially watched. You also have to back all the way out to the home screen, go back, then it shows up.

I honestly don’t expect a solution to this. I just thought it may be related both being similar devices and on the 10 second countdown

I"m curious if jsterling is experiencing anything similar

I also can’t continue playing, when I stop a video in the middle. It always starts at the beginning.

Same issue here on a Google TV “chromecast” (android TV)- has been happening for months.

Only appears to occur on 5.1+ AAC audio, but I haven’t done extensive testing. Messing with some audio settings can temporarily fix it so I’m confident it’s an audio issue.

In my case, Its not only auto play next. I also tried skipping to next episode, using the >> next button. Same thing happens.
‘Error, cant play this video , check your connection.’

Obviously, connection is fine.
This is happening in Android TV. App downloaded from playstore.

@marekszulik @sixones Any update? Any additional information we can provide. This seems to be a never ending bug that has been ignored for many versions.

Thanks!

I opened up a similar ticket with logs back in February and still having this issue on the same video files. Here is the link for reference with logs: Firestick - New Video Player doesn't go to next video, @sixones said the same thing back in February about an error Initializing the Audio.

Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

@marekszulik @sixones So we continue to see releases and lots of features being rolled out yet not one of them to address an issue that seems to basically break playback for anyone with a 4K fire stick. Can we please get some help on this? Before 8.12 this worked fine so obviously it’s possible. What else can we provide?

Thanks!

This bug is infuriating when binging tv seasons…
