This solution also worked for me.
Unfortunately it does not work with my QNAP NAS TS-453B. QNAP-service desk states they only support PMS v 1.21.1 and is unwilling to assist any further.
Plex support did their best and took lots of effort and are very assisting, unfortunately it stil breaks down by the QNAP installer / OS.
Been searching for days. So glad I found this forum. Also a Plex pass user. Iām having the same issue on my Nvidia Shield as the client.
My Plex server runs off a QNAP
I can connect AND play from my iPhone or chrome browser on multiple computers. I can also connect from a LG TV with Plex as an app. So I know the Plex server on the QNAP is working fine.
But when using the client on my Nvidia shield (which uses apps from the Google Play Store) , I can see the content but cannot start any streams.
I get the error:
An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.
If I uninstall all the Plex app updates and it goes back to the original version of the Plex client everything works. With the old original bad interface. But if I try to use the latest app version from the play store I get the above error.
Plex client version running on Nvidia Shield is version 8.19.4.26517
QNAP Plex server version: 4.47.3 running on a QNAP TS-451+

Installing the latest version of PMS worked for me.
I could not get streams to start using my nvidia shield.
PMS installed on my QNAP TS-451+
and downloaded the package for QNAP from:
- did a manual install - like we used to do before PLEX was even included in QNAP app store - AND IT WORKS now.
I installed the package for QNAP - Intel/AMD 64-bit (QTS-4.3 and newer)
it downloaded: PlexMediaServer-1.23.5.4801-bc4dd58bb-x86_64.qpkg

@walidwebas Iām able to connect to your server if I enable the option in the app to allow connecting using an insecure connection. So the problem is something with the security certificate and Android thinking itās not correct. Thanks for the info. If you can leave that sharing for a bit, I am investigating why.

Are you in GMT? The time on your server does impact the security certificate so if you have the wrong time it can result in not connecting properly.
@papabearfelix1 I rechecked your server logs from before and they also show you are in GMT 0. Is that correct?

Nevermind. Looks like I was barking up the wrong tree. I checked my WD and it also shows GMT 0. It would be good if you can check the ends of your logs and make sure that the actual time shown on the last line is correct for your location. The time does matter, itās just looks like the GMT parameter may be unknown on the WD device. Please confirm the time is correct in the log. Thanks.
Yes, you are right the last line of the logs shows GMT time (My real time is GMT+3)
@walidwebas Ok, double check the time on your WD, change it, restart PMS, see if that makes a difference.

Youāre right. There doesnāt appear to be a way to change the time. And my logs also show the wrong time. So I donāt think thatās the issue. Iām pretty sure it has to do with the security certificate but I canāt figure out why it isnāt working for you guys.

I am using My Cloud Home as PMS and around 1 - 2 months ago I get error like mentioned in this forum (about check connection and try again). I read about updating the PMS but I dont see option to update the PMS in My Cloud Home device (https://shop.westerndigital.com/products/cloud-storage/wd-my-cloud-home#WDBVXC0030HWT-NESN). Please advise.
