For Miibox can you try this build:

You could try the above build on your Firestick as well, if it doesn’t change anything could you send me the logs?

Just quickly tested it, seems to work!

Dear lord, for me too. Will this mean it will keep on working or is it just a temporary apk fix?

FINALLY, after months and months, a fix for this issue. Thank God. I had this error (only on LAN) on my Android phone, Android Tablet and Shield Pro. I can confirm this version solve the DNS rebind problem not just for Android TV but also Android devices in general. Let’s just hope it will not break again with the next update. I must admit I was starting to feel really unconfortable every time I saw an update.

Everything is ok with this bêta build ! Thanks for your Work sixones ! Hope thats this fix will be a part of the next update !

Hi, sixones! Just wanted to thank you and the team for this! 8.1 finally allows my Dad’s Mi Box S Pie to send DTS and AC3 straight to his ancient AV Receiver through Optical and transcodes AAC for proper surround sound without having to not only use the old player, but also without having to burn all subtitles (these two things are needed for 8.0 to have surround).

If it turns out that my own setup with Plex LG app, upcoming eARC AV Receiver but with just ARC TV won’t play surround ball so nicely, it looks like Mi Box can be an alternative.

I’m new to these things and as a newb, I’ll just say they seem unnecessarily complicated.

Thanks again and stay safe
m.

Plex is now working fine on my firestick, thanks, but the app is missing from the home screen under resent or under apps and channels on the home screen. The only option I have to launch the application is from ‘settings > applications > manage installed applications’ select the app and select launch.

I am having an issue where if I select play at original quality I get this error on Android. But on Android TV it just spins and sometimes makes the app crash. I am playing over the WAN remotely and the file is only 480p so full quality should be fine. But it just spins for ever. If I select convert then it plays fine. Is there an actual solution to this? I can’t disable the new player on Nvidia shield I don’t see the option.

Hold the Home button on the remote for for a few seconds and release, you’ll get a screen with Apps/Sleep/Mirroring/Settings as choices. Choose Apps and you’ll get your entire library (both installed apps and not) to choose from.

Obviously not a real solution, but more elegant than digging into the Settings menu.

Cheers. Works like a charm on Fire Stick 4K. All my problems are solved. Please move this build/fix forward to the next stable release. The last couple of months where a pain in the but in terms of not being able to play some files.

Hi all,
Can I throw a spanner in? Have tried this version on my Android Tablet and the remote device that’s having the same issues over WiFi etc etc… And 720p videos are still having issues, but as someone quite rightly stated, it works on the 480p stuff and certain other 720p files.

Dave

Thank you so very much, works perfectly, only need to try Avi now

Hey ! Worked for me.
See my post here (and logs) : Plex for Mi Box S is not playing any video since last update on Mi Box S few days ago

Out of curiosity can we get details on what this version fixes?

If a custom URL is listed and it uses https, if a cert is missing or not configured, new player fails playback. Does that work around this as well? I’m assuming it doesn’t unless you added logic to ignore the lack of SSL cert.

It really would be nice if the settings GUI for the server would note that a custom https URL requires one to have a SSL cert configured. Or better yet, upon entry of a custom URL, if the entry is https, check if the SSL certificate is configured, and if not do not let the user enter a https url.

I know a few folks setup a custom URL with https, having nginx handle the SSL handshake. But they didn’t turn of 32400, so instead of using the custom url through nginx, it was hitting the custom url at port 32400. And if you don’t have the SSL cert configure, it breaks new player.

Is there a fix for Fire TV and Nvidia Shield? Since I upgraded to 8 I am having this error, especially with high bandwidth content.
